The ... morebase measures 5.5" W. The cast iron log rests are 14" long. The rests are attached to the decorative front pieces by means of a single bolt/nut combo. One of these bolt/nut combos has been replaced with a new stainless steel set as you can see in the photos. Also please note the slight difference in the casting of the tips of the leaves. Not very noticable but I feel compelled to point it out so you can make a fully informed bidding decision. Shipping: these are quite heavy so please check the shipping calculator before bidding so there will be no surprizes. We are pleased to offer this incredible. Very large. Pair of antique andirons. Dating to the early 1900s, this pair is crafted in the Arts and Crafts, Mission fashion and era. The pair have a nautical theme and feature a large, Spanish galleon or clipper ship as their focal point. This exceptional and exquisite pair are a combination of iron and bronze/brass. The top section of the andirions are iron and feature the large ship medallion inside the outer frame. A large, detailed leaf is the top finial. The center columns are a barley twist design in an enameled/oiled type finish. They are bronze or brass as a magnet will not adhere to this section. The legs and feet are thick, forged iron as are the long, attached firedogs. This is a very rare pair with wonderful design and character. They are in very good condition for their age. They are ... morestructurally very sound and sturdy. They have an aged patina with some expected rusting to the iron. The andirions are VERY LARGE. Each measures 34" tall. They are 20" long with the firedogs attached. The bases measure 12" wide. Wonderful pair of solid Brass Andirons in excellent original condition. They measure 11-1/4" high x approx. 8-3/4" deep and the front measurement between the front legs are approx. 5-1/2" at the widest point. There is no sign of damage to either piece. Appear to be lacquered and may have been just for display purposes only. These seem to be very small for andirons but depending on the fireplace I'm sure they could be functional or perhaps they might be considered a salesman size. They are cast iron and each one weighs about 6-1/2 lbs. with no packaging. There is a patent dated on each that says Pat.d Nov. 7. 187(and the last number is missing) I searched and finally found the patent number for these, they were patented in 1871, patent#D5351, Adolph Wunder is the designer and assigned it to Sargent& Co. I will send the paper I printed with this information. These andirons measure 16" tall x 9-1/4" wide at the bottom feet and about 17" long. These were used. Vintage Antique Iron Hand Hammered Forged Fireplace Screen and Andirons
Here is a great old iron fireplace screen and set of andirons. This set was purchased together at an estate sale. And I am selling them together, although I do not know the actual origin or age of these items. They certainly appear to be hand hammered/hand forged and they do make a wonderful set. Everything is iron(magnetic) and you can clearly see the forge marks in the iron. There is some degree of surface rust on these pieces and they need to be cleaned up. I do not see any damage/holes in the fireplace screen. There is also an original emblem mounted in the center of the screen. The andirons seem to set better when they are angled out just a bit, and I have noticed this on other sets I have seen for sale. The feet of the andirons touch when they are positioned straight out. These measure 31" in height x 23" front to back and each are 10-1/2" wide at the base. Each Andiron weighs approximately 17 pounds and has a finish that looks hand hammered. They are definitely impressive. The wrought iron finials at the top are twisted into the shape of a flame. In the center are large decorative rings which again have a twisted look to them. On the front toward the bottom is wrought iron scroll work. I believe these are considered Arts& Crafts/ Mission Style from the Yellin Era. These are very old and were well used for many years. I am no expert but I would guess these are from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Please view the ... morepictures so you can make your own determination of age. I do not restore or refinish items I sell. These are in the original condition and again you can see from the pictures there are some nicks or chips in the black paint and some flaking. These are large. Heavy, and beautiful. I like them in the state they are currently in but if someone wanted to do a little restoration they would be magnificent. They are not early as the brass is in stacked pieces and the back of the legs are not solid. They have the look without the price of antique andirons. They measure 19 3/4" tall. 7 ... more1/2" across the feet and 18 3/4" deep from front to back. They have wear and manufacturing marks consistent with age and use. 2. Brass and forged iron tongs: These were purchased in 1995 from my favorite dealers at a Massachusetts antique show. The tag said to see Schiffer. Page 256D, circa 1850; I cannot vouch for this info. as I've never seen the book. They are in nice condition. 3. Brass and iron shovel: This is not an exact match to the tongs. but close. Same dealer and assume same age. The shovel does have surface rust. 4. Stoneware. Crockery, pottery pig/foot warmer: The stamp at the bottom is difficult to read, but I can make out Boston, Mass. if this was made by Dorchester Pottery Works. It is in nice condition except an attempt was made to clean it which left some light streaks on the upper end around the cork. All-in-all. I fell in love all over again looking at this as I was taking the pictures! This is just an incredible set of fireplace tools that is more a work of art than it is a fireplace tool set. There are five wonderful art glass paperweight made by St. Clair that are instituted in this fireplace tool set. Each one is it's own work of art. This set is in excellent condition one of the smaller balls on one of the tools has a minor scuff that won't even show up in the picture. And it is a very light scratch not a chip or crack. There is no other damage. The paperweights on the air andirons are 4 inches. They are 13 inches tall the tools have 2 1/2 inch balls in the stand is 30 inches tall. RARE SET OF ORIGINAL SANTA ANDIRONS ANTIQUES Missing the long metal piece! You are bidding on a set of Cast Iron Fireplace Santa Clause Andirons with Dog Legs. Produced in America by an unknown manufacturer after WWII* The metal is semi-smooth and reflects care in manufacture; it is NOT like the course modern stuff being cranked out of China recently. It has some significant age to it. Very cool and incredibly detailed piece with much of the original paint intact. The surface finish is 100% original- there are no cracks, chips, breaks or damage of any kind. It is a rare set and hard to find with original paint. 16” tall by about 19 inches wide if you include the dog legs. The bolts holding the dog legs in place have been replaced and are newer but the Santas and the detachable dog legs are original from the 1900’s. The surfaces show some ... morenormal handling wear, a little rust in spots, a few paint chips…they present very well and have a great vintage appeal. From an estate in Northern California. From the redwood country. Humboldt County. These andirons depict the giant sequoia redwoods and are indeed a giant themselves! Each tree trunk weighs 10-1/4# of solid copper. The stanchions are copper clad over iron. Very strong. The brass ducks could be a later edition. The artisan must have gotten his inspiration from being surrounded by giant Sequoia redwood trees with their beautiful scroll work with the applied decorative feet. The andirons are completely hand hammered. Imagine these in your fireplace! Completely original and hand made we would think. Some denting and dinging over the years. Spectacular set of antique handmade andirons. They are hand hammered iron and cast iron. Made for open hearth cooking. These were made by a blacksmith. I am told they date to 1750- 1800. Reason being that they are very large and very heavy. Standing 24" tall- One is 29 1/2" the other 29 1/4" deep- front base at feet 10 3/4" Weight is 40 pounds each. They have removable acorn finials. I love that they have their untouched natural aged patina. I have only dusted them off with a broom. Could be cleaned a little more if you like. I see no maker's mark. Doesn't mean there isn't one. For sale is a rare pair of antique primitive cast iron Dachshund andirons. Or door stops. These pieces are both very heavy weighing in at a combined weight of 55lbs. You can tell that they were used as andirons as the backs of them show more wear than the front. The dog with the tail measures 22.5" long, 4.5 wide, and 7" tall. One of them has a tail broken off, which is obviously a little shorter. I do not want to sell them separately. As I do not want to just have one of these laying around.
