This is a pair of beautiful stainless steel andirons or firedogs attributed to the great English Arts& Crafts architect and designer. CFA Voysey. I have only had one other pair of these in over 35 years of collecting and selling antiques from the period. They are beautifully made, solid and heavy, and marked with just the word"stainless" all of which leads me to believe they were produced in limited quantity, if not for a single commission. Hardware and stampings date this item to be antique. 1792 is stamped several places. Please see photos. This item is quite heavy. They weigh 8 lbs. each. With an individual cannonball weighing 3 lbs. Unique Gothic Fireplace (Black Painted) Cast Iron Claw Andirons/Firedogs
Up for auction. This pair of Gothic Style Vintage Cast Iron Andirons, that have been painted black. One is lacking the back foot. The other appears bent-both are rusted. See pictures) There is no log rack. The unique design appears to be a paw/claw with some kind of ornate design that almost appears to be a canine head-but it may be my imagination-Look at the pictures and see what you think. Antique Pair of Andirons Here is a neat old pair of andirons. These andirons have been used and have some dents in them. They are still in pretty good shape and are beautiful. One of the andirons must have been broken at one point in time and had the back piece replaced with rebar. This has not affected the functionality of the piece. However. It is still strong and functional. One of the andirons is also missing the tip of the finial. There is no makers mark that I can find.
