We are pleased to offer this incredible. Very large. Pair of antique andirons. Dating to the early 1900s, this pair is crafted in the Arts and Crafts, Mission fashion and era. The pair have a nautical theme and feature a large, Spanish galleon or clipper ship as their focal point. This exceptional and exquisite pair are a combination of iron and enameld bronze/brass. The top section of the andirions are iron and feature the large ship which is encircled with decorative iron which gives them a medallion effect. A large, detailed leaf is the top finial. The center columns are a barley twist design in an enameled type finish bronze or brass as a magnet will not adhere to this section. The legs and feet are thick, forged iron as are the long, attached firedogs. This is a very rare pair with wonderful design and character. They are in very good ... morecondition for their age. They are structurally very sound and sturdy. They have an aged patina with some expected rusting to the iron. The andirions are VERY LARGE. Each measures 34" tall. This is a set of heavy Federal style cast iron andirons circa 1880s. They each measure 20.5" in height. 12' across the bottom and 24" in depth. The pair weighs about 54 lbs. The andirons are marked on the underside of the log billets BRADLEY& HUBBAR in the tringular logo; t he back of the uprights are marked 8846. One of the log billet attachments has an old repair. Otherwise the andirons are in excellent condition. No cracks. Chips or other repairs.

For your consideration. I am offering a rare, original set of Federal George Washington Figural Cast Iron Andirons and Firedogs. Iron andirons clearly marked"Virginia Metalcrafters" Waynesboro. Virginia and are sand casted(Dogs are marked also and numbered 20 2& 3) The sand ca sting process involves creating a cavity in damp sand. Then filling that cavity with molten metal. Because each sand mold must be destroyed in order to remove the casting, each casting is unique. Dove tailed joints attach the andirons to the firedogs. Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent with age. No repairs or refinishing. Measurements: Washington Figural: 14 7/8 inches height by 2.25 inches width by 6.75 inches length. Antique knife blade ANDIRONS 18th C American brass finials HUGE RARE New England
This is an extraordinary pair of antique wrought iron and brass knife blade andirons from the 18th century. Estimated from the 1780's though early 1800's, found in Massachussetts over 10 years ago, having spent the last years in an 18th century house in a living room fireplace, used mostly for display. Verified as genuine by local blacksmith, these are particularly rare because of their size-a grand 24" high, 11 1/2" wide between the penny feet, and 17" deep. The iron has been conditioned with boiled linseed oil, as per blacksmith's recommendation, but the brass finials with peened tops(see photos) have not been polished. Looking for an historic home. or a great antique touch to a modern decor) these andirons stand proud and offer a new owner many years of distinguished service. Good luck!

The earliest Hessian Soldiers andirons were cast probably around 1800th. More andirons were cast after the Civil War. And foundries continued to cast them from the same mold into 1920th. The quality of the casting is the way to distinguish the old from the new: as the mold became worn the later casting are less sharp. Up for auction are 19th century Hessian Soldiers andirons with original paint. The casting are still sharp and they could have been cast any time from 1860. After a few hours of internet search I have found the only one similar pair of andirons at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Up for auction are late 16th early 17th century. Probably Italian, hand forged engraved Double End Andirons with cocking utilities. Spit hooks. Bowl holders and swinging branches. These sculptural andirons decorated with punched motifs and medieval iron masks are outstanding example of antique metalwork. The dimensions are 48" high x 41" wide x 14" deep. Really great vintage pair of French style brass andirons. They have really nice claw feet and the brass casting is very decorative and nice. They are about 22" tall and about 9" wide. Up for bid is a great old pair of cast iron owl andirons with amber glass eyes. That will glow when the fire is flickering behind them. They are quite rusty one more so than the other, but it is surface rust and there is no weakness to the metal at all. I like them rusty myself, but they could be painted very easily if you wish. One has a little gray paint on the front.see pictures. They made these andirons from the 20's through the 40's in the craftsman/art deco period. I feel these are in the earlier range. The crossbar is 43" long and allows for the andirons to be set anywhere from 20" 32" apart center to center. Note that the back leg of the andirons is offset allowing these to work with a lot of different fireplaces depending on how they are set up. Condition is very good. They are painted black with expected wear to the paint for their age. They are a bit dirty and there is some surface rust. They are in untouched as-found condition. 19th Century Bronze George Washington Figural Andirons Federal / Empire
Hi. I'm offering this pair of mid-19th century George Washington andirons. I believe that they are bronze. Please note the massive forge-welded iron work and quality of the castings. These andirons are not the later versions commonly seen for sale and are of the highest quality. They measure 22" deep X 21" high X 9" wide. They weight 14 pounds each! Antique Brass Andirons circa 1800-1840
offered here are a rare and handsome pair of early American brass Andirons. They measure 23.5 high. By 19.75 deep, by 11.5 wide. They are made of brass and iron. The hollow brass sections that have seamed construction. The internal rods that hold up the brass sections are made of wrought iron and are square with hand cut threads at the top. They are peened over at the bottom holding the legs and iron firedogs together tightly. The log stops are held in place by a small wrought iron rod that is square with hand cut threads. These iron rods have an interesting spiral effect(see photos) and are peened over on the bottom of the firedog. This type of construction is typical of early 19th century andirons. The brass sections are sand cast in two separate halves and then soldered together. Then they would put these parts on a lathe and turn and ... morepolish them. You can still see the vertical lines Where they were soldered together if you look closely; The feet on the bottom are cast in halves. Soldered together and turned as well. This is a somewhat unusual feature of this design. These Andirons are of excellent quality and workmanship. They would have been produced for a wealthy. Upscale home. They date from somewhere between the 1800's and the1840's. After this period they began to use different construction methods so these are definitely an early pair(see photos) They have a beautiful patina which appears to be very old. It is a bluish green verdigris patina on top of a rich brown colored brass. The places where the verdigris has come off reveal a very deep brown almost black patina on the brass. The blue-green is not completely balanced and uniform. One of the Andirons appears darker in the photo. This is partly due to a shadow in the photo, but is also due to this one has more of the brown patina visible, especially on the upper section and the lower left feet. I believe that you could remove this green verdigris( if you so desired) very easily without disturbing the brown patina underneath. They would have a

Offered is a pair of Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Andirons handed down through family. Probably Arts& Crafts era. Very heavy& sturdy. Left in it's original condition with surface rust but does not appear to be any structural damage. Natural patina of age.
