I did find another example of these and they were sold by a dealer in Europe, and they said that they were bronze and they said that they were made about 1890. They measure about 18 -1/2 inches tall and 12 inches wide and 4-1/2 inches deep. I have not been able to find any signs of damage, cracks or repairs. One of the cherubs is holding a little book and the other does have a small hole where something could have been held in place but it looks like the hole was never used and you have to look close to even find it.

18th Century Hand Forged Andirons
Pair of well made hand forged 18th century fireplace andirons. This pair has nice early form. Made of wrought iron. The tops are scrolled and the center of the uprights are fullered out to a teardrop shape. The rear leg is mortised through the front and welded. The back legs are in good shape but one is missing a pad in the rear. They have some old paint on them and are rusty. Would clean up nice.

Vintage Iron and Brass Colored Fireplace Andirons Firedogs Cannon Ball
A very nice set of vintage fireplace andirons. They stand about 16" tall and are about 16-18" deep. No damage other than needing a light cleaning if you want to keep the used vintage look or you can repaint them and make them look new. They are cast iron and appear to have been painted a brass color. They have a nice patina to them. Square headed bolts in the attaching points point to them being pretty old.

c.1820-1840 PENNSYLVANIA Made Brass Fireplace Andirons
This matched pair of brass andirons measure 16 1/2" high and have a series of raised knops with three spurs on each leg that terminate in ball feet. They show period construction with hand forged iron log supports and the brass columns are seam soldered down the sides and are held in place by peening an iron rod to the underside of the columns. These have an old darkened patina to the brass and other than normal wear dings to columns and fire pitting to iron log stops. Overall in very good condition considering their age(this style was popular with Pennsylvania brass founders from c.1820-1840 and these were found in Lancaster, PA) To see a similar pair dating c.1830's. Antique Arts and Crafts Syle Andirons
These beautiful Arts and Crafts style andirons would be the perfect addition to any fireplace. There is some slight surface rust which would clean up. Or merely wiping them down with oil would add to their patina. These have obviously been used and came from an old estate. They are made from cast iron and have an interesting relief cast into the base. It appears to be an Orthodox Cross. This is shown in the pictures. The andirons stand 18 inches high and are ten inches across the base. The crown is 3 1/2 inches square. The legs are 21 inches long. These are rather heavy weighing in at about 40 pounds.

This is a stunning pair of mid 19th century brass and iron fireplace andirons. they are very ornate with intricate detailing and have a wonderful patina from age. they are nicely footed with dimensional claw feet and nicely curved legs. the shaft and ball top finial are deeply ribbed with a detailed filler piece in-between. the finial is very large and also topped with a solid brass finial. the back wood rest are large and made from cast iron. One has a very old repair that gives nice character. they each measure 22 inches tall by 8 inches wide by 22 1/4 inches back to front. they are nice old andirons. The top section of the andirions are iron and feature the large ship medallion inside the outer frame. A large, detailed leaf is the top finial. The center columns are a barley twist design in an enameled/oiled type finish. They are bronze or brass as a magnet will not adhere to this section. Which is a bummer, but it you wanted to use these that is the end that would be in the fire so you wouldn't notice it. These pieces are very heavy for their size weighing a combined weight of 57lbs. One andiron does show a tiny hole near the bottom(pointed to in photo) I believe it is from the screw that attaches the firedog(and one of the screws also appears to be a later replacement) The firedogs will be disconnected for safer and more economical shipping.
