Two patinated bronze winged Putti rest on a contrasting bronze gilt 12" high, 12" wide, 18" long There is a small crack at the bottom of the gilt on one Andiron, there are two close up picture provided above. There is also one screw missing that holds one of the Putti to the gilt. This pair of Putti Andirons have only been cleaned with mild soap and water. Leaving over a hundred years of natural oxidation and patina to show threw on the bronze. They have a Celtic Design and look to them. Are these andirons from the Arts& Crafts Movement? I am unsure. They would make a lovely piece of Fireplace Decor. Mid Century Bennett Flame Andirons Donald Deskey Brass Iron Art Deco Fire Dogs
This is a set of vintage andirons that was designed by Donald Deskey and manufactured by Bennett. This is one of the rarer models that he designed. This set is cast iron with solid brass flames attached to the front. Each andiron has two pieces. The front and the legs. They are held together by a single bolt. These are in excellent condition. They have some light scratches on the flames. But no significant damages. The brass flames are still highly polished and very attractive. The cast iron is about 99% free rust and don’t have any chips or cracks. It looks like one of the bolts isn’t original, though. They parts fit together perfectly and bolt tightly. Measurements when assembled: 5 1/4 in. wide X 17 in. deep X 12 in. tall. Please message me if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help you. We are pleased to offer this extremely rare pair of antique andirons! This pair dates to the mid 1800s. They are a primitively fashioned pair with wonderful yet crude design. This pair is blacksmith made of hammered iron. They are substantial in both size and weight. The pair is very reminiscent of the Jamestown colony design(see these at http:www.gutenberg.org/files/16277/16277-h/16277-h.htm) There is a definite old English/Sussex influence to their design and styling. The pair have massive and bulky squared finials and ornate patterning to the fronts of the arched legs. The spit hooks are still intact. This is an incredible. OLD pair of andirons. There has been no restoration to the pair and they have a beautiful weathered. Worn and rusted patina. These vintage cast iron Andirons measure 18" tall to the top of the Eagle. 17" long from front to end of the Fire Dog, and approx 7" wide across the front. They are made of good quality cast iron with a vintage. Colonial styling, with a Brass Ball and Solid Brass Eagle mounted on top of each. The cast iron fire dogs are mounted to the base of the upright with nut and bolt and can swivel around as desired. We'll remove them from the uprights when packaging to make shipping less expensive. Regardless, none of that would have any impact on the use of these andirons. Until you use them, the paint on top simply makes the andirons look nice. This is a stunning pair of gothic cast iron fireplace andirons. They have a great patina from age and are made from very thick heavy iron. They have a stylized design and finial. On inside is imprinted: BURR CHROMIUM 100" which I believe describes metal that was initially used(1910-1920) to label the iron/steel mixture that helped to prevent corrosion. The back legs are also made from cast iron. Up for auction from a dear friend's home we have a set of Victorian Andirons that were in her family- she remembers these belonged to her grandfather's family who lived outside Boston. Measures 25.5 tall. 9 inches base between the lions feet, and the center tall piece is 2.5 inches square. They are heavy- about 10 pounds each. for sale a wonderful pair of antique french bronze chenets or andirons that have cherubs or putties sitting on the side of each. One playing a banjo, the other blowing a choice of two trumpets. of course the blackamore putties add additional charm and beauty to these french bronzes. the castings are nicely done on this set of chenets and they are large being almost 17 inches tall and about 8.5 inches wide. the extensions to support the wood holding grates are 12 inches or so. these pieces can be removed and either shorter or longer pieces can be substituted. that portion of the andiron is pretty insignificant as far as value goes. at any rate, a great pair of chenets that are nicely cast with exceptional carvings all over them and great putties along side. if you search ebay you will not find any that have a better look. the nicer ones listed ... moreare priced way up into the thousands, like 12-15,000 maybe more. some of the less desirable are priced like in the 2-3,000.00 range. i am going to start these at what i have in them from a long time ago. i don't need them and have several sets, of which i only use 2. i have stuff piled up everywhere and need to dispose of some things so i can get thru the house without tripping over a bunch of stuff. they have good weight to them but can be wrapped and packed well and sent via usps, ups, or fed ex for probably 40 or 50 bucks. good luck. FINE ANTIQUE CHIPPENDALE STYLE MELON TOP ON BALL AND CLAW FEET BRASS ANDIRONS These are nice large brass andirons on ball and claw feet made in the Chippendale style of the 1700's. These were made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. These andirons feature a raised design of oak leaf and vines. The brass shows wear and has some light corrosion throughout. They could use a good polish as I have left them in the untouched condition. The size is 20.25" high by 12" wide at the feet and a full 18 3/8" deep. You will not go wrong with this set. I am selling this great pair of early brass andirons. I am selling as is to be restored. One andirons as you can see in the images is apart. Look like the wrought iron rod the held them together rusted or broke where it attached to hold the legs. Height is around 16" I added a yard stick to show dimensions.
