Well Cared for with a few modest bits of nicking in places- please see photos for details What I(don't) know About this Piece: This item came from a private collection locally. The daughter of the collector held on to this and many other precolumbian and Spanish colonial era treasures. But her children and grandchildren had no interest in these marvelous treasures. There were too many great items to choose from, so I picked the one that spoke to me, but in the end, my wife did not hear things the same way. So, I must reluctantly part with this gem. What I do know is next to nothing. But what I was told is that the original collector purchased this and ... moreother items from a professor in New Mexico early in the twentieth century, and had held them ever since, before handing them down to her daughter. The daughter(from whom I purchased this) believes this item to be a reproduction, likely late nineteenth or early twentieth century. I believe that this is the case as well, but if it is an original, please forgive my error. A few other items in the collection exhibited typical museum markings, but this one does not. The daughter told me that this was from the personal collection of the professor whose name was lost when her mother passed. I was given no clue. Detail, or any information regarding the origin of the item, ethnic or geographic. As a very amateur sleuth, I have compared the item to other Pre-Columbian items and found a remarkable similiarity between this and Quimbaya pieces. If my determination is correct(please confirm with someone far more expert than me please) then this originated somewhere in Southwest Columbia. Large 10" Tall Pre-Columbian Jalisco Horned Shaman Figure Vessel, Ancient Mexico
A large Pre-Columbian Jalisco horned shaman hollow figure vessel from ancient West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. This example measures approximately 10" tall by about 5 1/2" wide and depicts a seated figure with a prominent horn-like protrusion from his forehead. Such horn-like depictions on figures are believed by scholars to symbolically represent the individual as a shaman. The individual has a false beard-like protrusion from his chin, and is holding an object near his mouth, perhaps a flute-like instrument, pipe or ceremonial object. The object is very heavy due to original sediment from burial remaining inside. Condition: Body is intact. Multiple repairs at the head(but the face area is mostly untouched) with fill/restoration over the break lines around the top. Sides and back of the head, as visible in the photos. Surface ... moreerosion, pigment loss, chipping, abrasions, weathering and wear overall. Heavy sediment deposits remain inside from burial, with traces of root marks and mineral deposits on the surface as evidence of age and authenticity. Provenance: Former Lynn Langdon collection. You are bidding on a pre columbian mayan pottery vessel that has a dragon head located on the front. The piece measures 4 1/2 inches in length and the bowl is 3 inches in width. This piece is very unique and it's use seems to be unknown. The handle has a unique hand carved dragon face and design. It has two legs that hold up this little tiny dish or pan to keep it level. It also has a hole on the bottom of it to let some sort of liquid drain through it. In the past I have seem some very old old lamps from Egypt and this could be very similar. Even smells like an old Army tent I would guess. On the font you can make out 817th PSA BTN and under that it says S4 It still has the original leather handles in great condition. Lock is very much in tact but I do not have a key. Side hinges are in great condition some surface rust. Nice for the beginning collector with lower budget but with lots of interesting features. It has manganese deposits from burial. The uneven fading patterns of paint and glaze leaves traces of paint showing even with some red coloring. On the bottom it has some lines still penetrating through of the original design work and from side it appears there are columns of color left over. This is a really nice collector Pre Columbian el Bosque bowl Costa Rican region vessel. It has 3 human heads with eyes and smiling features connected by horizontal scallops. It does have some scratches and loss of color over time but the paint is intense and the rim. Inside, and base have intense red maroon color. Some pictures on side show root markings that look like cracks. The real cracks are near head. The root markings are great examples. Original Gas Street Light Original Historic Philadelphia Souvenir
Original Philadelphia Baltimore Gas Street Light Yes. This was probably liberated in a stealthy undercover operation, late at night, about 1940 when Philadelphia was replacing these lovely gas lamps. The story is way too long to tell here, but we have to find a new home for this beauty. My research indicates that Baltimore and Philadelphia both proudly used this lamp design, patented in 1898. I have three separate boxes for the pieces. There are quite a few: The big globe is hand-blown(has some bubbles) It is 16' tall. 11" wide at the top and 8" at the base. It weighs about 8 lbs. It is clear and beautiful. The milkglass bowl-shaped glass on top is about 8" tall with a 14" opening at the base and 6" at the top. It is discolored where the glass was in contact with the metal. It also has some"fleabite" ... morechips at the top. But nothing you can see without looking very closely. The harp is cast iron. 29" tall and about 17" wide. It is in excellent condition. Has a fluted"crown" like the statue of liberty. A heavy cast iron base with a small round door(for access from below? and a metal screen. An inscription on the little door says. pat. Dec. 6, 1898. No. 615-658" Numbers are hard to read. The heavy cast crosspiece(to support access ladder? is 19" X 4" with an octagonal hole for the pole. The"works" appear to be brass with an white enameled metal sleeve. An electric bulb socket and cord have been added along with a small glass globe and globe holder. I doubt that this was done by a professional electrician so will need rewiring or gas mantel restored. The top is a lighter weight metal(aluminum? 10" tall X 8" wide, with a cast finial. It is missing one of the three little screws that attach it to the milkglass piece. It is currently in Milwaukee. I am unsure of how to ship it. So listed a freight option. If the buyer is amenable, we could hand-deliver or arrange a pick-up spot between Milwaukee and the DC or Philadelphia area. J

This is a lovely Nazca. Peru region Pre Columbian trichrome kero or vase vessel with great colorful design. Paint is vibrant and strong. Much larger than many Nazca vessels of this sort and there is a face with protruding nose on the bulbous base and decoration all around the top. I always love the design on the Nazca pieces. Olmec Mask in Green Stone Modern but Nicely Done
This is a modern version of the Olmec culture's royal burial mask. The Olmec are to some extent looked on as the mother culture of the Maya. This has the kind of graining that one sees in Central American jade. However I'm going to call it archaeological jade. Which I guess means any green stone resembling jade and let you decide. The mask depicts the transformation of the royal or shaman into what is sometimes called a were. It is eight inches tall and six and a half inches wide. The ears are pierced and there are two piercings at the sides of the head for fastening to the deceased. there are shallow drill marks to the nose and to each side of the mouth. The eyes and the mouth look like the way the originals did prior to insetting with stone and shell eyes and teeth although that is more common in the work of the Teotihuacanos of ... morecentral Mexico. Another culture whose influence spread over large parts of Mexico and Central America Of course now the holes at the sides of the head just makes for easy hanging if you so choose. It is thick but seems heavy even for stone. It weighs nearly four pounds. This seems much better done than some of the tourist things and may have been for a museum shop where they would take care to make it more realistic. I will only accept bids from the United States. This is a really cute Pre Columbian Inca ocarina that has excellent tones for those willing to play. This Pre Columbian pottery antiquity is in good shape with a few markings on back that appear to have been made at the time the piece was fashioned. I have had one opinion it may be a little later than the Incas like a Colonial piece made around 1700s but I have no COA to really cement the time. In any event it is an old piece and authentic from an artisan years ago. I am guessing between 1450AD and 1750AD. After Spaniards came as pottery terracotta items were still being made throughout this time as well. Not a modern reproduction. A really cute piece for the collector. Here I have a very old'vintage' pouch/bag for sale. It is stamped 1936. I believe it is from world war II. This is a very nice piece of History. Everything is intact, awesome for its age. It comes with a very old looking eraser(its part of it) and an old looking thing with two buttons on it(not sure if it goes with it) Maybe from the soldiers uniform? Antique cast iron wood burring stove
This is a very old authentic piece of Americana. It can be used as a decorative piece in a modern home. A functional antique stove in a rustic cabin, or as a beautiful functional outdoor statue. Fabulous alleged pre-Columbian Stone Carving from Santo Domingo, acquired '60's.
Acquired in Santo Domingo back in the'60's when my geologist husband and I were exploring and camping. My husband mounted it. The native alleged it was very old. pre-Columbian' he said. My husband and I just thought it was a great stone effigy. The carving in granite like stone is very heavy, measures about about 7.5" tall with it's base. Pre-Columbian Pottery from San Agustin Cultural Tradition, Columbia - 100 B.C.
This is a nice example of an incised wide-mouth carinated black-ware pot from Colombia that dates to around 100 B.C. The mouth on this piece is lightly angled to as not to be round. But almost octagonal. Below the mouth, on the sides, this piece of pottery has incised markings in the shape of chevrons. This pot measures 5" tall X 7 1/4" wide and it is freestanding. It has restoration done to the lip and a has a stable pressure crack in the side, however this is a still nice piece of ancient pottery. This pot is from the Norman Lane Collection, however he did not put his numbering system on the bottom of this this pot. International buyers pay full cost of shipping- I ship to most places.
