A Pre-Etruscan amphora from the Villanovan culture around Bologna in Italy dating to c. 9th century BC. The amphora retains its original deep black burnish and has a strong profile with pronounced ridged decoration around the belly. An imposing piece. Repaired(unobtrusively) from two pieces. There was a clean break below the ridges which can be seen in the photos. I can supply more photos on request. Up for auction is a wonderful set of 6 sterling demitasse cups and saucers by Gorham in the classic Etruscan. They are monogrammed in block style W and are hard to find. These would work for hot chocolate too. The saucers measure 3 5/8 inches and are back stamped Gorham sterling 9842. The cups measure 1 3/4 high by 1 7/8 diameter opening. The Lenox creamy white with gold rim inserts are perfect and measure 2 1/8 inches and 2 inches tall and there are 7 of these so you have an extra if one breaksl These are quite heavy gauge silver and in very good condition. This item will be shipped in a box with delivery confirmation and insurance. Offered for auction is one Handel Etruscan glass lamp shade measuring 10” across the bottom and is 6 ½” tall. This would fit an Aladdin oil lamp with a 10” fitter. For some unknown reason someone painted this beautiful shade forest green then someone decided to take the green paint off. Under the paint is a gorgeous yellow finish. This is not perfect; it has the usual roughness around the bottom rim that is so very common with these wonderful pieces of history. Other than the roughness around the bottom rim no nicks. Cracks, chips, crazing, or repairs could be found in the main part ... moreof the body. It has a lovely ringing sound when gently tapped with your finger. This was purchased several years ago from a local estate and other than a quick bath in warm water with a mild soap it is in“as found” condition. Here for your consideration. This beautiful Moe Bridges"Etruscan" Slip Shade Chandelier The Etruscan fixture was originally sold in 1931. This fixture has been electrically rebuilt by an electrical engineer including new porcelain sockets and new wiring. It has been customized for close to the ceiling mounting and hangs down 12" below the ceiling to the tip of the finial. Diameter is about 17" The finish is original. The hanging final is not original to the Moe Bridges fixture but we like the way it looks better than the'acorn' nut that was originally used. And it matches perfectly in both design and finish. Two shades have small chips the rest are perfect. The chips are not very visible when installed in the fixture on the ceiling. Feel free to ask questions before bidding. This is a pristine example of the masters art. It is unique and in mint condition with the exception of a small flea bite on the upper rim and a very small hairline on the upper lip about 1 inch long.
