Internal Revenue Service Special Tax Stamps issued for"Dealer in Manufactured Tobacco" One was made for 1883 for $5. And then was overstamped with $2.40 by the act of March 3, 1883. The other one was made for 1877 for $5.00. Both have cancellation cuts, and some wrinkles, folds, and small tears at the edges and corners. Otherwise in very good shape for their age. The individual sheet measures 7 x 14.5 inches. These were to be displayed by the retail store that sold the tobacco products. The were-jaguar figure is made of what I believe is volcanic rock. He is incised with two suns and a stalk of maize representing the cycle of life. His upward looking face is in the traditional Olmec paedomorphic pattern with open downcurved mouth. Wide nose, thick lips, hollow almond shaped eyes and slim double pierced ears. His hands and feet have morphed into jaguar-like paws. There are incisions or cuts on each of his shoulders, maybe to help release the jaguar from the man. The tortured facial features are intended to convey, not ferocity and aggressiveness, but emotional stress beyond endurance. He is either dead ... moreor dying; the avatar of the living and dead. The half-man-half-jaguar figure in Mesoamerican magico-religious artwork is an interpretation of a belief rather than a literal recording of a specific person's facial features. He stands 8" high. The collection of Pre-Columbian art I am selling came from the estate of a well known Louisville. Kentucky doctor who did medical missionary work in South America beginning in the 1950s. Having become knowledgeable of Pre-Columbian art he continued to acquire artifacts until his death. This is an old ancient jade/spotted green stone lip plug/ ear plug bead. It's in very good condition. It's probably Mescala culture. 1 inch across the front. 5/16ths inch thick. It has the remnants of once having been highly polished. But now a great old semi polish patina due to age. A very nice piece.

Pre-columbian necklace with figurine
Believed to be Mayan the figurine was separated from necklace for aesthetic reasons leaving a beautiful. Wearable green columbian agate bead and 14kt gold bead necklace. The figurine weighs 31gr for a gold value of around $900. It can be easily restrung back with necklace if desired and is included so as to not separate the pieces. Each of the hand-made agate beads is different in color and shape due to the natural stone but still have a soft feel to the touch. This would make a beautiful Christmas gift.

Here is a Dry Cell battery made by National Electrical Supply Company Patented January 23rd 1912. For being made of cardboard it is in really great shape. I also have some form of electrical insulator with fuse adapters for plugs. The back of the insulator says GECO USA CAT.62965 PAT.JAN.6.1910. Precolumbian soldiers in arms. At least their bodies. The precolumbian century was 52 years. At the end of every 52 year period, heads were chopped off many sculptures and new layers were added to many pyramids. Life began anew after 52 years. I think I got these sculptures in Teotihuacán, Mexico(1) Precolumbian. Sculpted, ceramic soldier bodies; most likely 1,500 or more years old. 2) Dimensions. one is approximately 3.5 inches tall. 2.25 inches wide, and.5 inches deep; the other one is approximately 3 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide, and 1 inch deep. 3) Medium. Clay; hard fired under great heat. 4) Provenance. I found many precolumbian sculptures in farmers' fields near the center of the ruins of Teotihuacán. Near Mexico City, in 1966 or 1967, when I was an anthropology student at the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City. ... moreGenerally, these farmers' fields were rocky and dusty but rain would wash the dust off the rocks and reveal that some of them had faces- and were terracotta heads and not rocks. Many times, after a rain, I would take a bus from Mexico City to Teotihuacán, explore the farmers' fields, and look for those features that were not visible when covered with dust. In this way, I acquired dozens of precolumbian heads. I did NOT personally find any bodies but I purchased some from farmers and local folks. I don't remember exactly where I acquired these soldiers but I think it was at Teotihuacan. It was certainly in Mexico in 1966 or 1967. How to distinguish an authentic precolumbian sculpture from a fake: 1) provinance; know the source; 2) study precolumbian anthropology; see what's in the museums and the books; 3) lick. Or otherwise wet, the object and see how long it takes to dry; ancient ceramics take a long time to dry because they are more porous than new ceramics. Views of these old soldiers show front. From toward the feet, from toward the top, and back.

Antique Faux Ivory Carved Napkin Rings Maritime Nautical Boat Pully Ship Snatch
5 rare antique estate Faux Ivory Napkin Ring Holders Maritime Nautical theme in the shape of sailboat snatch pullies. There are only 5. They are heavy and large. 2 of the 5 have flags scrimshawed and painted on them and there is wear on the paint. Each one of the napkin holders has sterling silver inset in the center. The silver is tarnished. Square on 1 side and a circle on the other side. 1 on them has a silver square missing, it has fallen out. Only 1 of them has the number 7 etched into the silver. There is a hairline crack on the side of 1 of them. They are old and probably from the Art Deco era. We have never seen anything like this set before. We do not know if there were 6 or more in the set originally. They are all the same size; 2 3/4" long X 2 inches wide X 1.5 inches high. Sold as is.

And along with the zig zag designs form the sky serpent. The pre-Columbian textiles stuck like no other full of mythological forms and statements that picture writing of the ancient cultures. Culture: Chimu/ North Peru. 850– 1300 AD Condition: The condition is age-related and authentic. No restorations, some breaks and loose threads. Thin areas; but nicely arranged in the frame(new frame with ... moresilver color covered and under glass. You can the frame stand or hang) you can also have the fabric without frame.
