I do not know much about this picture that belonged to my grandfather Fred. It was from a tourist lodge north of Wawa. Ontario that closed in the 1970's. It hung on the wall in the lodge. Why was a picture about Parry Sound, Ontario up in Wawa? I have tried to find some info on the net and on ebay about it and this is what I have come up with: 1882 Print(engraving) Parry Sound From the Heights Near Parry Sound Village. Ontario. THE NORTH CHANNEL WITH SALT'S POINT BEHIND THE VINTAGE SAILING VESSEL WHICH APPEARS TO BE AT ANCHOR. The artist signature on the front is R. Schelling with an 82 beside it for 1882 I think. Dimensions of the engraved area. In inches, minus margins is 6.25 x 9 inches. The matted brown frame is about 15 X 17 inches. This picture does look ancient. This double spout ceramic displays a Moche master warrior and a supernatural animal with a Spondyllus shell as body. This is a very ornate and well detailed piece. It has lost its straight pin but I have the loop that it would have attached to(see reference photo of similar pin) You can ascertain the correct location by the tack spots on the back. When I came across this antique piece in the little shop in Cusco quite a number of years ago. I was under the impression that it has hung on the front door of the home. But something like this is too fine for that use. After researching the piece when I got back ... moreI realized what its intended use was. The indigenous women and girls of the Andes in Ecuador. Bolivia and Peru fasten their shawls with beautiful clasps called tupos. Or topos. The tupo usually identifies the wearer's area of residence and is an important part of cultural significance for indigenous Andean women and girls. This is actually an example of how cultures combine different motifs…after further study this particular manta, tupo is fashioned after a Chatelaine which the mistress of the household wore and contained necessary keys and scissors etc objects for daily use and were also presented to brides by their intended husbands. When I looked at the piece closely I was fascinated by the amber Cabochon which is above the monkey figure because it looks like something may be in it. None of this was apparent in the dim light of the shop just the Andean highland motifs of each“charm” the lock the key the pitcher. They were compelling enough. The company was chartered in 1827 and in it's prime its routes ran east to Philadelphia and New York and West to Chicago and St. Louis. The B&O was the oldest US passenger line and is best known as one of the Monopoly game railroad stocks. Abe Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address on a line bought by the B&O. It became part of the Chessie system(Chesapeake& Ohio and Baltimore& Ohio) which in 1980 became part of CSX transportation. The vignette is of a Tom Thumb train with a harbor scene in the background. VERY NICE PRE-COLUMBIAN SONORA STONE AXE HEAD 3/4 GROOVE. From the North of Sinaloa and the plains of the rivers Fuerte. Mayo and Yaqui to the Sierra Madre Occidental stood the Huatabampo Tradition made up of farming communities using the variety of coastal resources. From the Mayo region, Sonora, came this very nice piece carved in hardstone, good overall symmetry, 3/4 grooved with rounded poll. The grooved axe resembles the stone celt in having a wedge-shaped cutting edge for wood working. The axe, however, has a groove for mounting the axe, close to the poll, on a wooden handle. Pretty good condition. Some blows in cutting edge caused at the time of discovery. Size: 5" long x 2" wide x 1 3/4" deep.

The ornamental objects were coated with stucco and colored with bright pigments. The flat square base was resting on the wall, surmounted by a rounded medallion. 100% Authentic Ancient Mayan Jade Pre Columbian Axe God
Original Museum Quality Mayan Pre Columbian Axe God from my own collections. It is 9cm hight. 4.5cm wide to the widest part at the edge, 1.7cm thick, made of calcite, light blue in color, no chips, there was a hairline crack near the right eye throught the hole but was filled with some white color substance(I think that was lime stone) after long time of burial. The whole item is covered with some tinny crystals that can't removed. It is a hard item to find in this conditions and compare to those asking for thousands. Prior to the Aztec empire's defeat by the Spanish there were a number of early cultures that occupied the region that we know as Mexico today. Matter of fact. Mexico leads the world in ruins of early cultures, over 11,000 archaeological sites have been discovered. Anything that relates to these early cultures is usually grouped under the general term, Pre-Columbian" before the discovery and conquest of the New World by the Spanish. The lives of these early Pre-Classic peoples were often dominated by the fertility cults and death rituals of the society. Remains of the these practices often involve bowls, jars and modelled figurines, in either anthromorphic or zoomorphic stylizations. The open-mouthed. Large earred head figure with headress, pictured here, was recovered ... morefrom one of the Pre-Classic States such as; Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, or Michoaca that was found along Mexico's Pacific Coast. Thought to be remnants of Mayan settlers who expanded into the area along the eastern gulf coast of Mexico, their known culture was influenced by neighboring societies, but remained the culturally dominant peoples in their region between 750-800 BCE. It is believed that the Huastec civilization occupied the northeastern gulf area of Mexico somewhere between 1100-900 BCE. This former museum piece. With visible museum markings, remains intact. This is a ancient handmade pottery bowl with designs that are clearer on the bottom sides than the top. I was told it was found in south Texas amongst the rouble of a old rock stacked building partially covered in dusty dirt near the Rio Grande River. It looks older than what the eastern settlers were bringing in with them so I would sermise that it is of Indian make& use. There are a few white areas on the rim that look to have been broken off at some time before I bought it. Take a look at the photo's for a more accurate description. I believe this is a 1934-1935 LaSalle Chrome Dash Emblem. I call it a radio blanking plate but I'm not sure. It would need to be re-chromed to make it show condition. I do combine shipping. I'm cleaning out the garage and retiring. Payment is due within 3 days at the end of the auction.

OLD Clay/Terra Cotta VESSEL South American ARTIFACT Pre-Columbian Primitive Art
Clay vessel from the estate and private collection of a World War II Merchant Marine veteran who traveled and lived extensively in South America. This vessel with face features may be an artifact of pre-Columbian. Peruvian, Mayan, Aztec, Mexican or Ecuadorian origin. Since I am NOT a collector and I am NOT an appraiser I have included many pictures. The vessel piece is being sold"as is" The pictures provide the best description I can give so please take some time to study the images carefully.
