Antique Norwegian 830S Solid Silver Miniature Model of a Viking Long Boat Sailing Ship circa 1920's This Antique Model Ship measures approximately 3 3/8 inches or 87 mm across its total length from one dragons head to the other by just over 1 3/8 inches or 33 mm across the width of its upper rim from side to side and it stands just over 2 5/8 inches or 68 mm tall to the top of its mast. The miniature ship or boat is made from solid silver in the novelty form of a Viking long boat sailing ship that has been embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with a planked body that has shields along its upper edge and a mythical beast or dragons head at either end. The the ship or boat has a mast with a raised relief decorated sail that has silver rope like internal rigging and the ship or boat stands on a raised lower rim. the base of the ... moreboat has been embossed or raised relief decorated with an image of the Stortinget Parliament building in Oslo over the word Norge and the miniature model has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram. Description: Large Kalevala Koru Helsinki pin with a design inspired by ancient Finnish jewelry and utensils that were discovered in archaeological finds from the Iron Age and Viking Era. This pin measures 1-7/8 inches wide X 1-11/16 inches high. It weighs 10.5 grams. On the back it has the Kalevala Koru KK stamp and the artisan initials J.F.H. A crown for Finland, the 813H Helsinki silver stamp, L-1 and M6, and you can see these marks in the detail closeup pictures. I believe M6 denotes the year 1941. The dragon's head is bent slightly to the left and there are some very fine associated hairlines in the enamel in the dragon's neck. There are two triangular enamel pieces in the tail which have very fine lines. There are also some very fine horizontal lines in the enamel just above where the base meets the bottom of the ship. The hairlines are too small to photograph and I needed a loupe to discover them. I don't see any repairs. A beautifully made Norwegian silver spoon. It is hallmarked with 830S standard mark followed by the makers mark of Thorvald Marthinsen. I would date it to the early 20 th century.
