Extremely Rare David Andersen Sterling Silver Viking Saga Vintage Ring Norway
A 1960's vintage sterling silver ring from Norway's David Andersen Saga Series. Pieces from this series are becoming increasingly difficult to find. And in my opinion this particular ring is one of the nicest of the entire collection. Jewellery items from this series were designed as true scale replicas of museum pieces created by Viking craftsmen around 300 A.D. and discovered in ancient burial mounds. The inside band is fully hallmarked and reads David Andersen Norway Sterling.925 S(and in script) Copy orig. year 300 AD. It measures slightly under 1/2 inch wide and is currently a size 7.5. Although the wrap-around design does allow it to be re-sized to some degree.

Up for auction is a vintage Norwegian slip of silver. My knowledge on this piece is limited. But it was offered in the 1960's and is from the design line'Saga Series' by David Andersen. A nice sized piece which may be worn either as a pin or a pendant, in my images, 11& 12, it is shown suspended from a handsome, heavy gauge circle and bar linked neckchain and while this chain looks'right' by proportion and styling it is not original to the Series so it, the neckchain, is offered in a separate, concurrently running auction. The auction at hand is solely for the dimensional/figural pin/pendant D.A. piece shown in the Gallery Photo. I think the original era chain to have been of a like gauge although of the cable-linked variety and, in any event, sold separately at the point of purchase, follow? This vintage Military& Society Goods from the Pettibone Bros MFG.C. of Cincinnati. USA is in good condition. Made from a chocolate brown velvety material with tan embroidery and leather trim. Silver stud accents on the sides and a large knob on the top center. The embroidery of the Moose is intricate and beautiful. As you can tell from pictures the inside of the hat is in used condition. It is made of 925 sterling silver with a thick gold plating over the top. Stamped" 925 S" D- A Norway Sterling" Reprod.Origin.From Viking Period" It is a rare trefoil brooch and is a replica of 9th century Viking era artifact. It is exquisitely reproduced by the famous David Andersen of Norway company in early 1960s. Each arm is decorated in Borre style with a head of a"beastie" Brooches of this type. Originally adapted from Frankish sword fittings which were popular adornments for Vikings. Worn as a clothes fastener or cloak pin.
