Ancient Bronze Finger Ring Viking Settlement Baltic 9th - 12th cent. Adjustable
Here is an authentic Viking bronze ring from the 9th- 12th century. It was found by a metal detector in an ancient Viking settlement along the Baltic Sea in Latvia. This ring is adjustable and very wearable. I t is a size 9 3/4. There is a chip out of the bronze on the edge as can be seen in the photo. When one wears ancient bronze rings or bracelets. The natural chemistry of the skin brings out a wonderful lustre to the artefact. Bronze needs to be worn to glow. I have a passion for wearable artefacts from Scandinavian lands and cultures. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. Here is an authentic bronze. Wrist cuff/bracelet of Viking design and origin. It was found by a metal detector in an ancient Viking settlement along the Baltic Sea in Latvia. The bronze is stiff. But it is flexible enough to get onto a man's or woman's wrist, although the two ends are sharp. The decoration is a typical Northern European Viking pattern of incised X's. For obvious reasons, which Viking women wore on the shoulders. The hole at the bottom of the brooch on the rim was used to suspend a somewhat triangular plate from which chains were hung. This is an extremely fine example, displaying both the clear diamond shape in the center and four raised scroll designs around the sides. Intact except for the pin on the reverse, which seldom survives. Up for bid is a bronze Viking cross circa 10th to 12th century AD. This cross was restored to it's former brilliance. As it was in fair condition when found, and felt it was a good decision to restore the piece; doing so resulted in a golden appearance as all polished bronze does, and this overshadows any excessive pitting that resulted from being over 900 years in the ground; and it resulted in it taking on a whole new character as well. 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false A group of 31 antique bronze bells found by a metal detector friend of mine in Northern Europe(he usually pulls up a fair amount of Viking or related material) These are believed to date from the Medieval period or possibly a bit later, difficult for me to tell. The condition is"excavated" fair to good, showing age and wear overall, about 15 to 30 mm or about 1-1/4 inches in size. These have not been cleaned or graded, so there could be some neat stuff in this lot, or maybe not( Without cleaning we cannot tell if the jingles are still present. A dip in some lemon juice could tell the tale. Please check the dimensions. Most photographs have been enlarged, and may look larger than the size of the actual items.
