Medusa's very expression turned people to stone who would piece by piece crumble. Falling to time. According to Greek myth, Perseus crept into the cave where he came upon the sleeping Medusa. By viewing Medusa's reflection in his polished shield, he safely approached and cut off her head. From her neck sprang Pegasus in which he stole away to heroic victory. It is mounted upon a black marble base with the European Bronze Finery stamp of quality and the artist Aldo Vitaleh's signature The Art of Lost Wax. Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive. Once the molds are done. HISTORY OF THE ROMAN REPUBLIC After the deposal of the last Etruscan king. In 509-10 BC, Rome abolished her regal system and instituted a new political order, the Republic. The king was replaced by two consuls and a range of lesser magistrates, elected annually by the whole male citizen body. The consuls chose an advisory council, the Senate, at first ad hoc, later according to well-defined qualifications(of landed wealth, military and political service) The consuls led the army in times of war and had executive powers in most others matters. Army service was a duty of citizenship but it was also a privilege for which only the wealthier(who could supply their own equipment) were eligible. Soon a small group of aristocratic families. Agate Hardstone Cameo Carved in High Relief of Roman Woman Bronze Gilt Mounted
Agate Hardstone Cameo of Roman Woman in Frontal View. The pendant is mounted in bronze gilt. It is 48mm(including bail) x 29mm. This stone is carved in high relief(13mm thick) Inventory#1412. As an added bonus I will included an additional agate cameo carved in low relief and mounted in bronze gilt. The quality of the bonus cameo. In my opinion, is poor and not of the quality that I will offer for sale in my shop or on the internet. Never-the-less it is an older piece carved in semi-precious stone. The last 3 pictures are of this bonus cameo. It is 40mm x 23mm

The term is used to describe the Roman state during and after the time of the first emperor, Augustus. The 500-year-old Roman Republic, which preceded it, had been weakened and subverted through several civil wars. Several events are commonly proposed to mark the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium(2 September 31 BC) and the Roman Senate's granting to Octavian the honorific Augustus(4 January 27 BC) Roman expansion ... morebegan in the days of the Republic, but the empire reached its greatest extent under Emperor Trajan: during his reign the Roman Empire controlled approximately 6.5 million km2 of land surface. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. In the late 3rd century AD, Diocletian established the practice of dividing authority between four co-emperors, in order to better secure the vast territory, putting an end to the Crisis of the Third Century. During the following decades the empire was often divided along an East/West axis. After the death of Theodosius I in 395 it was divided for the last time.8] The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 476 as Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate by Odoacer. And he was declared Augustus in 364 A.D. He was given command of the Eastern provinces, where he spent much of his time campaigning against the Goths and Persians. In 376 A.D. Valens allowed Gothic tribes, who were being driven forward by the Huns to settle in the Danube provinces. The Goths were so badly treated by the Romans that they rebelled. Valens was defeated by the Goths at the catastrophic battle of Hadrianople, where he lost his life and two-thirds of the Roman army was killed. Historic Slabbed Ancient Roman Widows Mite Sized Bronze Coins c. 50 BC - 400 AD
OWN HISTORY IN YOU OWN HANDS. VERY LIMITED QUANTIES FOUND As Jesus looked up. He saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in her two mites. Truly I tell you, he said, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on. Luke 21:1-4) One Historic REAL Slabbed Ancient Roman Widows Mite Sized Bronze Coins c. 50 BC- 400 AD The Christian lesson of the widow's mites. As relayed in Luke(21:1-4) and Mark(12:41-44) is an enduring testament to the value of faith. A destitute widow has only a few mites to her name, and those she gave selflessly as her donation to the Temple. Mites were ancient pennies, fairly worthless at the time) Jesus comments that her modest gift was worth more than the ... moreostentatious contributions of the wealthy, for her mites represented all that she had. This virtuous woman had demonstrated true Christian faith in God- she could not know from where her next meal would come, but she believed that He would provide for her. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things(food. Clothes, all material needs) will be added unto you. Matthew 6:33) Widow's Mite Coin Descriptions These bronze widows mite coins were not Roman coins but were in fact true Judean coins that were minted during the inter-testamental period of Jewish history when Israel was a self-governing nation. These coins were minted under King and High Priest Alexander Jannaeus who ruled Israel from 103-76 B.C.
