Here is an authentic bronze ring of Roman or Byzantine design and origin. It was found by a metal detector in an ancient Viking settlement along the Baltic ... moreSea in Latvia. Possibly a trade item brought back from viking travels. The ring is a size 9. This bronze ring clearly shows the copper structure with a layer of tin above and finally the mixture of bronze(tin and copper alloy) When one wears ancient bronze rings or bracelets. The natural chemistry of the skin brings out a wonderful lustre to the artefact. Bronze needs to be worn to glow. I have a passion for ancient Viking-era artefacts. I can imagine the Viking who brought this ring back f r om southern travels. I love Baltic amber. Ancient bronze artefacts, and I have far more than I can wear in my collection; watch for more necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets.

This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. The mold is peeled away, yielding a wax image(the wax positive" duplicating the original sculpture. This image must then be"touched-up" to remove any seam lines. Scratches or other flaws, as well as to recreate any pattern or texturing that was lost or damaged when the wax was made. The quality of the finished bronz

Roman Bronze Gryphons Brooch weight: 36 grams measures: 62 mm/ 55 mm The history of the Roman world is an epic story which stretches out over the course of more than two millennia- the story of an small group of villages which went on to dominate a major part of the western world and was to substantially define its culture. It is obviously impossible to summarize the entire history within a few lines. However. Most chronologies distinguish between the following phases: Origins and Roman Monarchy(753- 509 B.C. A somewhat less familiar period, at the end of which Roman territory was only one small area, Latium, which remained threatened on all sides by Italic and Etruscan peoples. The Roman Republic(509- 27 B.C. paved the way for the institutions. Administration and organizational structures that were to sustain the force of Rome. By 264 B.C. ... moreRome controlled the entire Italian peninsula. Its ambition would then be to dominate the Mediterranean. Following the destruction of Carthage in 146, this was achieved for the western part. Macedonia, allied with Carthage, was then defeated, and Greece was“liberated” from the Macedonians in 194. Rome occupied what is today the Turkish coastline. Julius Caesar was at the origin of the change which, within a few years(49-29 B.C. would change the Roman institutions into an empire which covered almost the whole of the Mediterranean shores, plus Gaul and present day Spain. The Roman Empire(27 B.C. 476 A.D. increased the grasp of Rome on the Western world even more so. However signs of crisis increase from 250 A.D. onwards. With the rise of new peoples who threaten the borders of the Roman empire. Within the empire, Christianity progresses and the Emperor Constantine converts to it in 324. In 395, Theodosius shares the empire between his two sons. The Western Empire fell in 476, whereas the Byzantine Empire remained, with many trials and tribulations until 1453. However things are not that simple. The rise of Rome and the fall of the Empire cannot be scribed by a

RARE Bronze MERCURY Figure ANCIENT ROMAN Museum QUALITY SCULPTURE ART FIGURINE
RARE Bronze MERCURY Figure ANCIENT ROMAN Museum QUALITY SCULPTURE ART FIGURINE Description Condition: This sculpture is in perfect condition. Bronze Dimensions:Height 65" x Width 22" Weight: 70 LBS Inventory: 258506247952 Borne aloft by the wind. Mercury is the messenger of the gods. To the Greeks, his name was Hermes. He was the swiftest of the Gods, the messenger of Zeus, a job he shared with Iris, Goddess of the Dawn. His parents were Zeus and Maia, Goddess of the Clouds. Wearing his winged helmet bearing his caduceus, his golden winged sandals bore him swiftly as a breath of air over land and sea. Known as a guide and giver of good, he was the God of traders, travel, and good fortune. The Art of Lost Wax Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although ... moremechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. Scratches or other flaws, as well as to recreate any pattern or texturing that

DETAIL: This is a very handsome 1st century B.C. Celtic bronze lunar fetish. Whether it was originally a pendant or a brooch cannot be conclusively established. As whatever mounting device it originally possessed broke off. Brooches were rather more common, however there’s no indication that a pin was ever mounted to this lunar pagan fetish. Pendants were less common, however we do believe that it was most likely originally a pendant, based on the remains of what appears to originally have been a bail. We drilled a very tiny hole through the side of the stub of the original bail, so as to attach the contemporary wire bail you now see. If it were ever deemed desirable, the bail could be removed, and the two tiny holes plugged. It should come as no surprise detectable are the telltale signs that the pendant spent thousands of years in the soil. Porosity is fine surface pitting(oxidation. Corrosion) caused by extended burial in caustic soil. Many small ancient metal artifacts s

Famed as the last pagan emperor. His reinstatement of the pagan religion earned him the moniker"the Apostate. As evidenced by his brilliant writing, some of which has survived to the present day, the title"the Philosopher" may have been more appropriate. WONDERFUL EARLY BRONZE MYTHICAL BEAST ROMAN OIL LAMP - EXTREMELY RARE - L@@K
this is a very nice looking piece. I was told it was originally bought at christies auction back in the 1960s-70s period as a roman bronze oil lamp, i have no written proof, just what i was told which i have no reason to doubt, its made from bronze and it has wonderful colour and patina with lots of wear as expected, it measures about 14cm long, 8cm high to the top of the tail, there is a seam running through the centre, info very welcome if this would be correct for a roman piece. photos dont do it justice, so viewing is very welcome. as i have no proof of exact age, im having to sell as unknown age, but my opinion would be roman like i was told, it came with lots more weird and wonderful pieces ill be listing including a rock crystal oil lamp filler with fish handle which ive just listed.
