Free Shipping Location: North Hollywood, United States Colima Dog This is a wonderful Colima figural dog vessel. As found in a local estate and believed to be an ancient piece from Western Mexico, approximately ... moretwo thousand years old. The dog is fat- or pregnant- with a hollow body in aggressive stance with tail that forms a spout. The dog's eyes and mouth are incised into the clay. Dog effigies such as this were buried in tombs in the belief that dogs were an important guide into the afterlife of the deceased. Both of the dog's ears are chipped; one with minor loss. The other more significantly. Two legs have been re-glued; the repairs are rough and amateur, and the break lines appear to have had some loss and are not well-aligned. The burnished reddish brown exterior is mottled and veined. And the interior is encrusted with mineral sediment. The dog came to me without information on its history or provenance. But shows many indications of its age. It's a fascinating piece that is sure to complement any collection. Two legs repaired somewhat roughly. One ear is broken. The other is chipped. With Slipware Glaze Decoration. c.300BC-200AD Now offering a pre-Columbian"Colima Dog" effigy vessel in glazed slipware pottery. Which dates from between 300BC- 200AD. Evidence of the slipware glaze decoration is all over the piece. Especially on one side, where color concentric circles can be seen. The lip of the opening in the top has some wear and a little loss, but no repairs are evident. This is a particularly attractive piece of ancient. Pre-Columbian Mexico pottery; from the estate of a Connecticut collector who passed away, purchased at auction around 2007. The Colima dogs were a breed used for sacrifice and were also part of the diet. Vessels like this were used in burials, as that is where most of them were discovered. Hi. I have 3 larger ancient heads for auction. These came from the ruins of Monte Alban and Mitla in Oaxaca, Mexico. These artifacts were recovered in 1968. They have info with each on saying which specific ruin they were found in. There are color photo slides of when they were found. I had purchased several of these from the lady that acquired them. Box C-K. This is a wonderful antique Pre-Columbian piece. I purchased this from a local estate as Pre-Columbian and they have been in the family for decades but that is really all the information I have. In looking around on the internet they look like they may be form the Chimu People in Peru. This piece is in pretty good condition there is some chipping around the rim of the jar but otherwise I don’t see any chips cracks or breaks to note. There is some soiling and scuffing but it’s in great antique condition. The jar/pitcher is 6.5”T x 5.5”w x 3.75”d Terms of sale: I am not an expert on any item category I may sell. Antique pre Columbian clay pottery pot. Fish figural handle. Measures height 7" total round pot 18" condition some vary rubs, excellent no chips, cracks or breaks. Note was told the pot is pre Columbian, I did not have the piece authenticated. No C. O. A. Beautiful pottery.

Antique Pre-Columbian Peruvian masked Pottery Woman seated applied snake at rear
I have been told that this is a Pre-Columbian pottery woman. She is seated on what looks like a stool with a snake like object draped around the rear of the seat. The woman seems to be wearing some form of a mask. She is holding her thighs apart. This statue measures almost 8.5" high and is 4.5" wide. It is reasonably heavy for its size. Please do advise me on this statue. It is well glazed and from my searches I see that it could be Peruvian or Mexican. I won't even try to guess its age but I believe it is as old as the hills. Thanks for taking a look at my site and any help would be appreciated. I am just going to have a guess at a starting price. This is a very nice piece of Pre Columbian art that has been reproduced by a local Mexican artist hand made with wonderful etchings and carvings of iconic and deity or God Icons to look very authentic. A great piece for show and for those attracted to Pre Columbian art. This may be vintage aged but I am not sure. It is a large item. 9 inches tall and 61/2 inches diameter. Solid and durable. PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY FRAGMENT ECUADOR AUTHENTIC This is a small but very detailed authentic Pre Columbian pottery head fragment from Ecuador from an old private collection. From the deformation of the head presumably La Tolita culture 600 B C- 200 A D. The heavily lidded eyes are very distinct anad detailed as is the nose with an exceptionally large nose ring. The mouth is open with a square lip plug in the lower lip. Very elaborate ear ornaments. The headdress is high and the head slopes backward. The head is hollow and broken almost evenly at the neck so it will stand alone but can be supported on a stand. Close up photos show the debris on the fragment as it has not been cleaned. It is approximately 1 1/2 inches high and 1 3/4 inches across the widest portion of the head. The face has a very slight reddish tint also on the right jaw line ... morewhile the top of the headdress is a darker gray.
