Vintage Kuna Indian Tribe Pre-Colombian Design Mola-Panama 79.94679
Click on the images above for larger views) This mola measures 14" x 18" Now here's a mola suited for a Textile Museum. It is old. Worn as a blouse and sports a favorite design. These frog or lizard-like critters are known as huacas. The design was first found on pottery and in gold jewelry. There are several good jewelry makers in Panama that still make gold jewelry with similar designs and they call them Huacas. This mola is strictly a collectible. I wouldn't add it to my wedding dress unless I was marrying a curator. Item number: BB.94679.79.94679

Rare Anasazi Hohokam Native American Indian Pottery Pre-Colombian 1100-1450
Hohokam Classic Period. Ca 1100 to 1450 AD. This type of vessel was“slipped” or coated with a thin layer of iron rich clay on the outside. The bowl was then fired turned upside down in the fire- these were fired in a shallow pit in the ground. They would get a good fire going, one that would suck in a great deal of oxygen and create an“oxidizing fire” around the outside of the bowl. The iron in the clay then turned red, much like rusting. The red exterior was then polished using a small smooth stone. Salt Red is a late Classic Period Redware(dating only to the Tucson and Civano Phases) that is considered by many to be the most highly polished and lustrous of all Hohokam ceramics. It is believed to have been produced along the Salt River. This is an uncommon design and most likely used for medicinal ceremonial purposes. Prehistoric Artifact ... morewith typical chips and wear for a handmade item 600- 1.000 years old. Please note the fine crack on the rim and the chips on the base. The crack appears to have been stabilized. It may be available for auction after the pottery pieces associated with it are sold The Hohokam Culture evolved in the deserts of southern Arizona. Extending southward into extreme northern Mexico and northward at times as far as Flagstaff. The Hohokam seem to have been influenced by the Mesoamerican peoples to the south. Platform mounds and ballcourts for ritual activities are characteristic features of Central American cultures at this time. Family groups lived along the river drainages. And were pioneers in the use of extensive irrigation systems. The Hohokam grew corn, beans and squash, as did other Southwestern cultures, as well as cotton, agave, and other native plants. They supplemented this diet by hunting deer and rabbits and by gathering local plants. The Hohokam were the first and on

Pre-Colombian Polychrome Rattle Bowl Pedestal Ceremonial Costa Rica Terra Cotta
I purchased this item a few years ago from a dealer. She couldn't tell me much about where it came from or what it is. I believe this bowl is from Costa Rica. It has very bright coloring and a beautiful patina. The legs are bird heads and all three contain clay marbles that make noise when you move the bowl. Note that there are areas of chipped paint and there are two chips along the rim as pictured. Wear is consistent with age on this piece. It measures approximately 9.25" in diameter(it's uneven and not a perfect circle) and stands just under 6" high. I am not an expert on Pre-Colombian pottery. But it must say that this is a stunning piece that I have been happy to enjoy. Please ask if you have questions. It will ship professionally packed and insured. Posted with

ANTIQUE PRE COLOMBIAN MAYAN ? POTTERY POISON BOTTLE PAUAHTUN GOD 5 UNLUCKY DAYS
I am not an expert in these sorts of antiquities but. After much research, I believe this to be a Pre Columbian Poison Bottle from the Mayan Culture. The Clay Bottle depicts Pauahtun, God of Five Unlucky Days" also known as"God N" Period is estimated 400- 700 AD. What looks like an Arabic Numeral"8" is, I believe, part of his knotted headdress and more commonly found depicted sideways, not up and down. The headdress has been found, in other representations to resemble a knotted rope, a snake, and other similar shapes as expressed by a particular maker or commensurate with a particular cultural locale, etc. Measures 3 1/2" Tall. 2 3/4" Diameter from Nose to Nose of the faces, 2 3/8" Diameter Side to Side. Condition is Very Good to Excellent. One chip at the rim. One tiny chip at the rim. One fine hairline ... morecrack across the underside of the base. Please see all pictures as they are a very important part of the description of this piece. This will be double-boxed for protection and fully insured(free) From a South Carolina estate sale.

UNIQUE PRE COLOMBIAN STATUES PAPERWEIGHT * REPRESENTING 6 MAJOR STONE CARVINGS
Unique find! Here I have a representation of Pre Colombian carved statues. The statues are gold in color. I believe them to be small copies of real statues/ carvings found in San Agustin, Colombia. The population and areas of S. America were very different in the Pre Colombian era. Before the Spanish arrival around 1499. From what I read. There were many different tribes or groups in the area, however the three main ones were the Quimbayas, Kalinas and the Chibchas. The Chibchas were noted for there work in sculpting and gold smithing. These six figures I believe are representations of pre-Colombian deities or kings. Or other sacred beliefs/ beings. The detailing on all 6 is quite remarkable. I tried to zoom in as best as possible, the figures are gold colored on a black back ground. I believe the whole piece is cast in Lucite. The piece ... moremeasures: 3 1/16' right to left X 2 3/4' top to bottom X 5/8' thick. Great UNIQUE piece for your favorite Archaeologist. History buff or up and coming Indiana Jones! Check out my!
