TRANSLATE Arabic Chinese French German Greek Indonesian Italian Hindi Japanese Korean Swedish Portuguese Russian Spanish Genuine Intricate. Beautiful ... moreAncient Chinese Buddhist Shrine Decorative Clay Tile Depicting Eight Hindu-Style Bodhisattvas. Possibly an 18th or 19th Century Revival Imitative. CLASSIFICATION: Ancient Chinese Buddhist Clay Shrine Tile. ATTRIBUTION: In the Style of Ancient China. Liao Dynasty(907-1125 A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Length: 243 millimeters(9 3/4 inches) Width: 188 millimeters(7 1/2 inches) Thickness: 25 millimeters(1 inch) Weight: 3 pounds. 6 ounces(about 1½ kilograms) CONDITION: Exceptional. Integrity entirely intact. No significant chips or cracks. Minor surface crazing. Professionally conserved. Can be sealed upon request. DETAIL: This is a very beautiful. Intricately detailed gray clay tile from the Liao Dynasty of ancient China. These clay tiles were used to decorate the inside walls of Buddhist shrines. The depiction is somewhat reminiscent of a Hindu depiction. Of course Buddhism came to China from Hindu India, and there exist of course many parallels between the Chinese and Indian variants of Buddhism. The depiction is of eight bodhisattvas of various sizes. There is a little surface crazing and a few minute chips; but no cracks or major chips. It is constructed of very strong sintered clay produced using a very special technique often employed to produce strengthened steel. Although it is probable that this specimen is much older. It is also possible that this piece might be a revivalist imitative produced for the European market of the 18th or 19th century. It is widely known that Chinese porcelain and other ceramic artwork was quite popular in Victorian Europe. Carrying Chinese porcelain from China to Europe was an industry for the seafaring mariners of the 16th. 17th, and 18th centuries. Entire fleets of sailing ships plied the trade, especially the Dutch and English. However in addition to porcelain, ancient Chinese ceramics were also extremely popular in Vi

The Sahara is the world's largest hot desert. Over 9,000,000 km²(3,500,000 mi²) almost as large as the United States. The Sahara is located in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. Its name, Sahara, is an English pronunciation of the word for desert in Arabic. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic Ocean on the west. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on the ... moresouth. The Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains(a region of desert mountains and high plateaus) Tenere desert and the Libyan desert(the most arid region) The highest peak in the Sahara is Emi Koussi(3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. The Sahara divides the continent of Africa into North and Sub-Saharan Africa. The southern border of the Sahara is marked by a band of semiarid savanna called the Sahel; south of the Sahel lies the lusher Sudan and the Congo River Basin. During the Late Neolithic period(approx 4000BC– 2000BC) the Sahara had a much wetter climate(sometimes known as the Aqualithic) and was akin to modern day North America. 9 better Sahara Neolithic points and tools
Lot Description: This is a nice group of 8 mostly. Larger and nicer diverse Sahara desert found tools. This lot is composed of a much better than average. Diverse projectile points types including triangular, ovate, and stemmed projectile points and/or tools. Most of these tools were found in the southwestern Sahara( Mauritania/Mali) There is one Eiffel Tower point from Algeria(right in middle) These tools were used to hunt and process water fowl and other game in the now dried up lakes of the Sahara 4.000 years ago. The shortest point is 15/16th inch long(24 mm) The longest tool is 1 7/8th inches(47mm) The condition is very good. There may be a minor ancient ding or two, as can be expected with working tools, most are complete. See picture for detail. The color in hand. Is better than the picture indicates. The natural light somehow washes ... moreout the color(especially whites) or maybe it's my photography skills. These relics are representative of everyday tools. Many of these tools were used until they could no longer function well because they were to small to re-sharpen at which point they were discarded others were lost in the hunt. A nice diverse sampling of Sahara tools! Background information is provided with my 2-page essay on the subject. Which will be included. Neolithic populations living near now dried lakes and rivers in what is now the Sahara desert; used these tools in the hunt for and processing of waterfowl and small game. The end of the Ice Age resulted in global climate changes which stopped the rains and forced these Neolithic(New Stone Age) peoples into new modes of existence. Either agriculture which was just beginning at the end of the Neolithic, or a nomadic animal husbandry mode of existence. The New Stone Age was a very dynamic era giving rise to agriculture, pottery, and permanent settlements, all of which were milestones in humankinds march toward'civilized' life. The Sahara Neolithic lasted from 9,000 to 4,000 BP(years Before Present) I will include my 2-page essay on the Sa
NEOLITHIC AGED STONE LONG LEAF shaped ARROWHEAD
NEOVENATOR Possibly the UK's biggest killer dinosaur. It once roamed the areas of Southern England around 120 million years ago. Preying on the herds of Iguanodon and also, I would imagine, the numerous long necked sauropods that were around at this time. It is related to the T-Rex busting Carcharodontosaurus. THIS IS A GENUINE ANCIENT ARTEFACT NEOLITHIC ARROWHEAD Period: Neolithic/ Early Bronze Age Age: circa 3.000 years BC Material: Silica rich rock Location: Sahara desert. North Africa Relaxing in the comforts of our own homes. It is easy to forget how hard life must have been 5,000 to 3,000 years ago. We can only try to appreciate the conditions that these'stone age' people had to face. But, by attempting to compare the documentaries about certain lost tribes, like those of the Kalahari bush men and the Australian aborigines, ... moreit gives us a brief insight in to the possible lives of these ancient people. A lot of people say that modern man has lost some of his primitive instincts and senses over time e.g. the ability to make contact with the'spirit world' etc. These are all fascinating subjects in their own right. But the craftsmanship in preparing a small piece of stone with such precision, such as this arrowhead, with only the use of primitive implements is incredible. I think we severely underestimate our ancestors too often. But first. A bit about the way they were made and the people that made them: Arrowhead Production: In order to achieve the desired implement. Different methods of manufacture were used. But first, the selection of the finest materials was required. Neolithic man was very particular about the type of materials he used. In deed, he went to great lengths to obtain these. In Norfolk, Grimes Caverns, near Weeting, there are Neolithic mine shafts in the chalk cliffs where a particular high grade flint was mined, despite other, easier accessible flint veins being present. From this raw material, the stone was prepared into a'core' and this is referred to as'dres

Width: 5.50 cm, height: 2.75 cm These V-formed type axes are from the late Single grave period. This is a beautiful example. The lovely dark brown colour often occurs in axes found in the Vildemose area. This axe has a wonderful patina and shows a really advanced knapping technique. I.e. the zigzag edge. This is a working axe and it has been retouched in ancient times, but that takes nothing from the beauty of the piece. a1.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*3Ad%60%3Ea1%3E-13f9374ce75-0xfb-

4000Y.O: AMAZING FISH TAILED DAGGER DANISH STONE AGE NEOLITHIC FLINT DAGGER CULT
NORTHERN EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description down the centre of both sides. This extremely rare fish-tailed dagger has diamond shaped cross section and four seams at the hilt. Two of them zick-zack shaped! The last period of the Stone Age. 2400-1800 BC, known as the Dagger period, coincided with the early Bronze Age in the British Isles and Central Europe. Weapons and tools made of copper and bronze were introduced and provided a challenge for those who made flint tools. The result can be seen in the excellent examples of imitations in flint of foreign bronze daggers. At the end of the period, the production of metal implements finally gained a foothold, and there is evidence of an emerging new social stratification. This is reflected in finds from settlements with both small and much larger long houses. ... moreBurial customs varied from simple interments below ground or in passage graves, to burials in stone cists or log coffins covered with large mounds. Length 142 mms(25.4 mms = 1 inch) IMPORTANT: The dagger is broken and has been fixed together again! Worth to restore! Wonderful moor-patinized flint with fossil includings! The flaking is extrem nice and well done. Interesting: The shape of this Fisch tailed dagger is a result of ancient resharpening and the use of the handle as a" strike a light" This are showing the marks of blows at the handle edges. Provenance is an old collection. More details will follow the artifact. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of this fish tailed dagger from the Late Stone Age. High Quality Neolithic Flint Arrowhead 21mm - 4000BC (D018)
Neolithic Flint Arrowhead Length: 21mm Width: 17mm Material: Flint Colour: Grey/ Brown Type: Tanged Triangle Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara A superior quality beautiful example. I have personally handled over 10.000 of these'flints' during my collecting over the last 10 years. The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. This is not a reflection on the density of usage of these items but more a reflection of the areas current climate- being very arid it makes it easier to find these items. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic ... moreOcean on the west. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on the south. Arrowheads are typically collected and traded by the local nomadic peoples of the Sahara. They find them as the sand dunes move and they travel around seasonally grazing their herds. Finding and collecting items such as these provides them with a reasonable, stable income. Payment via
