Gordon Childe, Early Danubian culture or Incised Ware Group is a major archaeological horizon of the European Neolithic(stone age) flourishing ca. 5500—4500 BC. The heaviest concentrations are on the middle Danube, the upper and middle Elbe, and the upper and middle Rhine. The LBK represents the advent of agriculture into this part of the world. Lot Description: This is a diverse group of 22 good. Common-grade Sahara desert found tools. This lot is composed of a diverse group of projectile point and tools forms. The lot consist of all the main types including stemmed. Triangular, ovate, and unifacial and are mostly from the southwestern Sahara(northern Mauritania/Mali) Th ese tools were used to hunt and process water fowl and other game in the now dried up lakes of the Sahara 4.000 years ago. These tools are of mixed size. The shortest tool is 11/16th inch long(17 mm) The longest tool is 2 inches(52 mm) The condition is good. There are ancient dings to some of these points and tools, as can be expected with working tools. These small tools were used and lost or discarded when they became too small to use; most are complete. See picture for details. The color in hand. Is better than ... morethe picture indicates. The natural light somehow washes out the color or maybe it's my photography skills. These relics are representative of everyday tools. Many of these tools were used until they could no longer function well because they were to small to re-sharpen at which point they were discarded others were lost in the hunt. This dear little animal has a wonderful upturned snout above his carved mouth. A beautifully arched forehead, supporting round bulging eyes, and surmounted by two pointed well-defined ears. Behind the neck it has its original hand drilled holes which surely did and could once again hold a fitting for wear around the neck or from a waist circle. Rare. Unusual, and elaborately carved full figured effigy or icon carved entirely of the whole body with a handsome face and wonderful expression on his countenance. His hands sit on each knee, both of which are bent to show toes pointed inward of the feet. The rear view displays buttocks clearly in a sweet naïve fashion. He possesses original laboriously carved holes between his arms and body with another hole between his feet and legs that were probably meant to hold ceremonial or good luck charms of some type.
