Measurements are 31" across by 26" shoulder to hem.This would be considered a women's med/large here in the states but in Giuatemala they wear these very loose. It should fit a small woman. This 100% cotton piece is all hand woven on a backstrap loom. The panels are all sewn together by hand and all of the embrodery is by hand. The hem along the neck opening is done by a machine but this is not unusual. This one is in VG to mint condition. The white is very clean and the embroidery is all in great shape. The colors on this piece stil really POP! We have hung them on the wall and they look great! We've also seen them hung unfolded and framed and used as tablecloths. This celt originates from the Mayan cultural area of Western Mexico and is an authentic pre-1600 artifact. I purchased this celt from Gilbert Cooper during one of the auctions in which he was selling pieces deaccessioned from the now-closed Kema Indian Museum in Pennsylvania. This is the Snake God Kukulkan who undulates down the corners of the Temple Chichen Itza in Central Mexico every summer and winter solstice. He is the god of fertility and is attended by many people coming from around the world. Great earthtones. Handmade from heavy clay from Central Mexico. Selling here is a superb example of the ceramic art of the ancient Maya. The exterior of this well potted bowl is flared outwards and deeply faceted. Below the flared rim is a strip of polychrome decoration depicting stylised toucan motifs. The interior of this Copador bowl features glyphs and portayals of further animal iconography. The bowl originates from the Central American country of El Salvador and dates to the Late Classsic period c.750 AD, regarded to be the high point of Mayan civilisation and artistic expression. Provenance available on request. The bowl measures 21cm in diameter. 8.5cm in depth. All items are guaranteed to be genuine and as described. Hi There- This is a gorgeous tapestry. Being fairly large at approx. 29 1/2 inches long, and about 22 inches wide. The detail is incredible, it is soft and I think it is Alpaca, but I'm not 100% it's surely some kind of wool. Again, it's pretty soft and the detailed features of the people really show well. It would look great framed, or hung as is. It really would NOT be good for a blanket, but could also be laid over the bed or couch as extra decoration. There are no loose threads. Brass 8" Aztec Mayan Mexican Calendar Wall Hanging Plate Silverplate Metal
This is an old vintage Mexixan/ Mayan calendar on a brass or copper plate. I'm not exactly sure of the material. There are what appears to be water stains throughout the plate, but can most likely be removed with a special tarnish or cleaner. Plate has some wear, you can tell its very old and is dented on the top. On the back of the plate it reads"Hecho En Mexico" made in Mexico. The plate is 8" round. This is an impressive Replica of a Ceremonial Mayan Human Sacrificial Knife. It came from the Ancient Ruin City of Tulum Mexico. Which was a precolonial walled Port City. It was built on the Northeastern shore of Mexico during the Twelfth and Fifteenth Century. The Knife is a Finely Hand Crafted, multicolored, unique, and a magnificent piece of work. It is also a very sharp and deadly instrument. This is not a toy, and the obsidian used in the two blades ha s been used to make cutting tools and weapons for thousands of years. The knife is in excellent condition. Unsure of the age, but I have had it in my personal collection for over 40 years. I guarantee the buyer and collector will not be disappointed. Terra Cottta clay hand decorated with green. White, and red slip color. Blackened areas indicate a wood pit firing process. No makers marks. We believe it to be Mexican folk art, although it may have originated in some other Latin American country. The hollow body has seven finger holes, six up the front and a thumb hole behind. Not musicians ourselves, we can create a number of clear notes by trying various fingering positions, although one tends to expect a piece like this one to be used more as a decorative accent than musical instrument. No reserve auction of 3 unusual vintage Aztec or Mayan themed wall plaques or tiles. I do not no much about them. But they are at least vintage and were stored at my Mom's house for many years. They appear to be made of some type of lightweight concrete, are 5" square and 1/2" thick, not counting the raised decorations. Not sure they are from Mexico, could be Guatemala.
