This vintage wooden box has been layered with hand carved bone and dyed with an Aztec design. The chest measures approx. 3" tall x 4-3/4" wide x 3-1/2" deep with four feet set at an angle extending the width to 5-1/2" The depth to 4" and the height to 4" The hinged lid opens to a red satin interior. Metal plates set with screws interlock the lid and base when closed. The key shown was hidden in the box but it is not the original and was probably added for decorative purposes. It does not lock the box. The designs are dyed in multi colors with geometric shapes. The front has a picture of the sun's rays with a man's head in the center. The sides have pictures of men sitting cross legged holding torches and wearing headresses. The arched lid has pictures of men on bended knee holding a torch and the back ... morehas a picture of a man on bended knee holding a torch in worship before a brick structure. I have included close ups of the feet so you can see the fine porosity of the bone and a close up of the front to see the variations of the dye. Sterling and 18K Gold Aztec Mayan Images
Tis unusual ring has a band of sterling silver with iserted 18K gold faces and a pyramid on either side. It fits well on a 6.75 finger but could probably safely expand to a size 7.25 due to the open back and general flexibility of the silver band. I suspect the faces are Aztec or Mayan and the Pyramids are depictions of the Mayan Temples. Very intersesting and beautiful ring.

Here is a framed piece of needlework from Belize. Central America. There is a paper taped to the backing of the frame with the story of the piece on it. It's dated 1998, and was a thank you gift to someone who helped with an agricultural project evidently concerning the Belize City Farmers Market. The paper states that the needlework was done by Juanita Fox"Pure Mayan Indian" and that it depicts the Mayan God Itzamna. The Creator. Real nice and nothing broken-marked sterling with some numbers also. I know nothing about sterling marks- and as a matter of fact not much about this bracelet. There is no damage to the bracelet at all 100% complete. The mother of pearl or? is very brilliant. Has patina on the piece. I have seen these at antique stores to see what they sell for. Except for the poll, which is classic Mayan style. There is one ancient chip on the corner of the bit, which has the same mineral deposits and age as the rest of the celt. This is really a nice bag that was produced by hand in Mexico and sold as a tourist item. These bags are becoming hard to find in this condition of this size. I recovered this suitcase from a flooded closet. It was only damp on about 15% of the bag, and was only damp for and hour or so. Bag was professionally dried by a Martinizer. Bag never grew mildew and only smells a little like an older couples closet. This bag was purchased in the Colima area of Central Mexico by a couple that used it to get extra items home. This Hand Carved Wooden Sculpture was purchased by me on my honeymoon trip to Belize several years ago while we were in Placencia. This piece was hand carved- the tag attached says: Fully Crafted By Hand. The face has great detail with his chin resting on his hand. There are silver metal bands around his neck. Wrists and ankles. It can stand on its own but works better if you lean it into something- like the wall. He tipped over while I was cleaning a while back and one of the legs splintered. Guatemala Maya Huipil Chichicastenango Very Fine Mayan Double-Headed Eagle Desgn
This post 1990 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is a dark charcoal black-colored cotton. The very fine geometric designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using mostly cotton and polished cotton threads. It consists of three panels. Which have been joined in the areas of the brocading using a decorative randa stitch. All of the lower edges are nicely selvage-finished. Though there is some slight looseness in the threads in the lower areas from the manner in which they were removed from the loom. The lengths are also somewhat uneven. The adornment around the head-hole the traditional Chichicastenango sun design. The side stitching(which makes the huipil into a finished garment to be used) is still present, making this a functional ... moreusable garment Measurements: 33 inches wide and 26 inches shoulder to hem. Both sides are shown in the photos. Since the designs in the side panels are quite different. On both sides, the design in the central panel is a very stylized double-headed eagle, a traditional Mayan design since the time of the conquest. This is a very beautiful and finely woven garment, of a very rich appearance, and an especially nice example of contemporary usage. Condition: Excellent. This post-1980 woman's huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is cotton. Vintage AZTEC or MAYAN design Silver Abalone Inlay Headress Screw Back Earrings
These are interesting round. Quarter-sized, silver earrings with abalone inlay that is flush with the surface. The design is a warrior face profile, and the face on each earring is looking in a different direction. There are no maker's markings on the back. They are somewhat tarnished. I will leave any cleaning to the buyer. The screw backs are in excellent condition, unbent, and screw fully open to fully flush against the earring.

Mexican Aztec Mayan Wind God vintage hanging wall plaque statue figure Mexico
This plaque was purchased in Mexico 30 or 40 years ago. It is the Aztec wind god sculpted in copper-colored metal and mounted on a black. Painted-wood backing. We're not sure if that statue part is real copper or not-the metal sounds hollow but is very heavy. The wood backing measures 16" The figure measures 14" The figure has some finish scratched off on his nose(can easily be touched up with paint) and paint off underneath feet near markings. It could use a light cleaning(has dust in some of the grooves) It is signed with artist marking"vioil" On the back of the plaque a heavy wire loop is attached for hanging. Mayan Jadeite Ceremonial Celt 7 7/8" 19.7 cm) by 2 3/8" 5.6 cm) by 1 1/32" 2.6 cm) Classic Period: 550- 950 AD Tabasco. Mexico Celts of this size. Material, and workmanship are seldom offered outside of galleries and high end auctions. It is made from the"social jade" aventurine, which glitters in the light, and is slightly translucent at the bit. See Photos) The celt is a medium green with a couple of darher green stripes, common in aventurine. It is highly polished over all, except for the poll, which, in true Mayan celt style, was left pecked and unpolished. Although the peck marks were polished away, you can still see some of the under surface peck scars, which show as a light tan colored cloud near bit area and sides of the celt. The polish has a faint gloss, but a smooth, pleasant satin feel as you hold it. ... moreThe bit is in relatively good shape. Retaining most its original sharpness. It does have an ancient chip on one corner, which has the same mineralization and patina as the rest of the celt. The sides of the celt are nicely rounded and the piece taoers from 2 3/8" at the bit to about 1 1/8" at the poll. It is highly symmetrical. The overall workmanship and material used signifies the importance of this celt in ancient times as well as now. Stone Carved Figure- Mayan Subject H: 13 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 2 1/4" This was given to me many years ago by a friend from Honduras. He didn't know the age or if it was authentic but it makes a super display piece and draws a lot of attention. It is made from a type of volcanic stone and weighs approx. 10+ lbs.
