Antique Sterling Silver Aztec Mayan Repousse Goblet Set. Exquisite upscale estate sale find! Two sterling silver goblets with a Central American Aztec/Mayan repousse theme. They have a very unique and rare shield hallmark that reads Bogota Sterling. My research tell me these came from Bogota. Colombia. The hallmark is deep in the stem of the goblet. It was very hard for me to read with a loop with a light on it. So i apologize that i can't take a good picture of it. The hallmark on the larger goblet has become illegible from a previous acid test. The smaller goblet measures 3 1/4" tall with a 2" diameter opening. The larger goblet measures 4 1/2" tall with a 3" diameter opening. They are monogrammed L.B. Hough. These are in fabulous condition! Wonderful vintage patina. These have not been cleaned or polished. With red painted vertical and horizontal lines and designs. Obviously the paint is lighter on one side where it probably was nearer to a damp wall which affected it. The rim appears to have been all red but that has lightened significantly. The"handles" appear to be heads with a mouth and the eyes are holes where cords were placed so it could be suspended. There are a couple of chips along the rim. Due to size it may have been for some small quantity substance of value; a painted piece usually means it was used ceremonially. His wife sold the estate and these Mayan obsidian cores were in the collection of mineral specimens and Indian relics from all over the world. Along with 2 large gold nuggets we have on Ebay now. These cores were exhausted to the extreme and then discarded(as pictured) And the pieces chiped off subsequently used as a different type of tool, knives, scrapers and weapons for example. Meanwhile, others were reduced through the bipolar percussion technique to obtain flakes, and something similar likely happened with the macro blade ... morecores. The production of artifacts was aimed at manufacturing two major products: prismatic blades and projectile points. Both technological types required specialized skills and a centralized productive organization. The major purpose of this production was serving the local and probably the regional demand of cutting tools, throwing weapons with a cutting point, and instruments for scraping, polishing and perforating, all of which could be a part of household maintenance activities. For sale is a folding chair bought in Honduras in the 70's by a local farming couple. They sold part of their land to Wal-mart and traveled the world every summer. They bought it in the 70s in Honduras. I am not sure how old it is. I was told by their family chairs like that used to sit by the fire that is why they are so low to the ground. Would work great as a display piece or can be used as a magazine rack to stack magazines on top. In a folded position closed it measures 10' 1/2 wide. 26' 1/2 tall. Fully open 25' wide bottom and 11' deep, top measures when open 19' by 10' 1/2.

Is that it once held Bols coffee liqueur! The original Bols cap is still present! The cap is marked Erven Lucas Bols Anno 1575. It is a vibrant red cap. Rich and lush in color. The cap sits nicely atop the bottle. Though it is easily moved. It does not seem that the liqueur was emptied that long ago. The cork on the cap is not dry. Warrior, chief or priest figurine. Aztec or Mayan, wearing helmet and earings.
This large pre-Columbian ceremonial artifact is 7" tall. It depicts a high priest or chief making an offering. Perhaps to the sun god or other deity. The regal figure is wearing a very elaborate helmeted headdress, nose ring, earring, and the remains of a collared neckpiece. His left arm is held palm upwards in supplication and his right arm probably once held an offering skyward. There is an opening in the back that indicates this was perhaps an incense burner. Th ere is a wonderful regal bearing to the figure's face, This is a one-of-a-kind artifact- unlike the mold-made figures that were mass-produced in early mesoamerica. There are even the fingerprints of the ancient artisan throughout the chief's ceremonial attire. A wonderful link to the ancient peoples of long ago!

Hand built bowl is rich for its iconography painted in deep red and brown slip on a cream ground. The interior features a large JAL sign also known as a mat sign referring to all woven materials- finely woven textiles, plaited hair, twists of rope, in addition to the reed mat which was the symbol or royalty. Surrounding the JAL glyph is a procession of birds- possibly turkeys as these were domesticated by the Mayans- with worms hanging from their beaks. Birds were associated with Mayan lords and shaman as well as with the deity figures associated with leaders of local tribes. Bird ornamentals were an integral part of the headdresses worn by Mayan lords as these winged creatures played a significant role ... morein mystical and ceremonial life of these ancients. On the exterior of the bowl is a series of six seated figures bending forward and presenting their large red hands in a pantomime-like gesture that suggests they are making an offering to a supernatural entity. Vintage Hand Carved Aztec Mayan Jade Necklace & Pendant
This is an intricately hand carved jade Aztec Mayan figure necklace with pendant. The pendant is of a seated crowned figure with his hands and fingers interlaced across his chest. Almost alien looking in appearance. It hangs approx. 13 1/2" and has six 2/1/2" cylinder type links and two 1" links of the same type joined together with a chain. It measures approx. 2" high x 1" wide. It is in complete natural condition without any breaks cracks or chips. All sales are final and as is. We buy our items at auctions.
