A Mayan/Aztec inspired mask from Mexico.I think it's more Mayan inspired though.The mask is heavy.Weighs 2 LBS 4 Ounces by itself.If you look at the picture of the back of it,it looks like petrified wood.However I'm pretty positive it's either Clay or Ceramic cast.Hand painted.Has a hook on the back for wall hanging or can sit flat on a shelf.Measures 8" long x 4 3/4" wide.Very vibrant colors.The camera flash dimishes the vibrant colors of the mask somewhat,photo#8 better shows it's true colors.It has a Snake,Panther and a Mayan design on the top part.There is one very small paint knick on the masks left side near the base directly under the red flower area. You are viewing an antique solid silver vase made in Peru in the shape of a head. It looks to be Mayan or Aztec inspired. It measures 13cm(5" in height and 84mm(3 ¼) in diameter and weighs approximately just over 200g(7oz) I seem to have misplaced my digital scales but will update with an exact weight when I have it. It is in excellent condition with no visible damage. It is stamped"PERU PLATA(PG) 925 A MANO" Plata is Spanish for silver. PG I think is the makers name and A Mano means manually or hand made. Up for sale is a wonderful old likeness of Mayan King Pacal. I purchased it from a dealer at an antique market who got it from an estate. He said that the people who previously owned it traveled extensively and that it was old, but he did not have any additional information or exact age for this piece. It measures about 4 inches high and he said it is metal, bronze or copper. The inside is hollowed out and you can see some brown dirt like residue near the inside top(see image) It is darkened with some green verdigris and a little white crustation. This blanket is 80" long and 58" wide. There is a seam down the middle of the blanket- the last 2 pictures show the seam from each side. This blanket has the same motif on each side and there are no rips or tears. The fringe is in very good condition. The colors are browns. Tan grey and off white. The plaque has a Mayan calendar design on the face, and it has an inlaid abalone shell band around the edge of the plate. The plate also has a place to hang the item up on a nail, and it measures 7 1/8" in diameter. They are representative of either Mayan or Aztec civilization artifacts. It looks like an Indiana Jones type of motif. They are mounted on a rich kind of dark wood. They measure about 11 ½ inches square by 1 ½ inches deep. The large stickers on the back do not say Zarebski. But the little ones do. So these were made in the middle of last century somewhere in there. 60s or 70s. Some if not most things look a little better in pictures than in real life. Circle of Life Pottery Four Figures with Aztec, Inca or Mayan Faces
We love finding interesting items as this one! The antique dealer didn't know what this was called. Except that it was a very unusual piece. We believe this is a Circle of Life(or Circle of Friends) pottery candle or incense holder. It shows 4 figures with faces that may be Aztec, Inca or Mayan with arms joined together and all the figures facing inward toward the center of the sculpture. In the middle is a bowl made for burning something or to hold a candle. This could have been used in some sort of ritual as well. Your guess is as good as ours here. Item Condition: From the wear and condition. We think this is an older vintage item. It's in good condition with no major issues visible. Minor chipping. Surface wear.
