This auction is for an amazing piece of Majolica. I beleive it was made the Griffen Smith Hill Company. Or Etruscan. They may have been also called the Pheonix Pottery Company. It is marked/stamped. The green center has an somewhat embossed pair of figurines. I would say they are angels but it is hard to make out all of the way. Maybe I am not looking at it right. In terms of condition, there are a few flea bites on the backside rim. On the front is a small flea bit but it may be original to the piece, maybe a bubble in the firing or glaze, check out the photos to be sure as I am no expert on pottery by any means. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1880s ETRUSCAN YELLOW GOLD FILLED BANGLE BRACELET SET
This is an old antique Victorian era 1800s pair of matching cuff bracelets from old estate. They have a 3mm tubular body and an ornate Etruscan decorated tips that are 10mm by 16m. They are small at 2 1/8" from inside wall to inside wall and 5 7/8" around inside with tape measure. On each bracelet one of the tubes that hold up the ball for closure has the gold worn off and also the top of the balls as would be expected. The gold is very nice on rest of the bangles and some light tarnish as I have not cleaned these. See my closeup. This is not note worthy. This set is fabulous in person. I recently found one more of these TRUE RARITIES. A very early WWI-era American made sterling silver Etruscan fob charm bracelet. I own two and have never sold one of these before. It is a true AMERICAN treasure. It's Swift and Fisher(S&F) STERLING SILVER Etruscan fob charm bracelet. Probably pre-WWI to early 1920s. The company in North Attleboro. Massachusetts. Started business in 1913, and by the early to mid-1920s they had switched to making religious items. I think they still do. As far as I have been able to learn, they stopped making jewelry around that same time. So, I think this is a nearly antique Etruscan fob charm bracelet. The bracelet is marked S&F sterling. VICTORIAN MOURNING ETRUSCAN REVIVAL 14K YELLOW GOLD HAIR LOCKET. INSCRIBED 1878 This is a truly special gold Victorian locket. The mill-grain/ filigree pattern across the front is in excellent condition. As is the little window that hold a lock of blond hair and the crisp inscription on the verso reading, M.L.C. Aug 11. 1878. The locket and chain may not be original partners but they share the same warm, matte gold finish and match perfectly with one another. The locket measures 1 1/4 in. long from bail to bottom, 5/8 in. wide and 1/4 thick. The chain is rather substantial considering its length(14 in. and is marked"14k" on the clasp. Considering its age. The locket is in exceptional condition. There are small scratches on all sides but these are so small as to only be visible under very close scrutiny. Made in the Ancient Etruscan style of rich gold wire wrapping and beaded applique. You can see each"petal" around the turquoise center is fine gold wire, wrapped over a thicker gold wire.the detail and craftsmanship are incredible when examined up close. Even from a distance you can see the unique texture and of course the rich yellow coloring ... moreonly higher carat antique gold exhibits. The centerpiece is a large and beautiful"robin's egg blue" veined turquoise cabochon, measuring 1/2 in diameter. It is all natural and the color is the most stunning bright blue, with fine natural veins. It is securely set with many tiny"talon" prongs which protect the fine turquoise from loss, yet barely show when viewed straight on! EVERY detail is simple yet perfect.The back retains it's original tube hinge pin stem and c-clasp. The entire brooch is in fine antique condition with no damage. Even after 150 yrs, this natural turquoise has no chips, cracks or drying at all. Though a brooch, I wear this as a"slide" on a Victorian gold chain(see photos) though a bale could certainly be added thoughtfully by a skilled jeweler without marring the antiquity. Absolutely stunning elongated heart shaped and dual shouldered Etruscan amphora vase from the world acclaimed English design artist. Michael Harris, for the Mdina factory on the small Mediterranean island of Malta, in colours of azure, turquoise, eucalyptus, yellow ochre, jade and sea green. The vase starts with a circular highly polished pontil from which the piece ascends to form a slightly bulbous elongated heart shaped amphora vase of exceptional proportions. The piece ascends outwards in tapering form which displays ... moresuperlative gentle arcs and crescented side walls. This splendid curvature eventaully starts to recede as it's gently sloping upper reaches meets a slightly squat reduced neck. The latter is surmounted or capped with a superbly splayed circular mouth with a rounded mouthrim. The splayed saucer shaped mouth is embellished with a slightly sunken plateau'd summit whose shallow gradient leads to the piece's cavernous heart shaped inner well. The vase's innovative and very classical is influenced by Greco Roman water and wine vessels which were adapted from early Etruscan designs. One of the vase's main strengths is it's opposing sets of semi circular shoulder that give the piece such an enchanting and sublime form. The first of two semi circular crystal clear crescent shaped arcs appear to be almost hewn from the vase's thick walls. The protruding semi circular arc is enhanced and somewhat overshadowed by a larger crescented semi circular element that defines the piece's sublime shape. The latter resembles those accentuated shoulder pads fashionable in the eighties and so eloquently worn by Joan Collins and company in such shows as Dallas or Miami
