Each page is scripted by hand in"Geez" the ancient language of Ethiopia that is no longer used today except by the Orthodox Church for religious purposes. Eyes, and what look like two"feelers" see the 1st scanned image) This is a rare and beautiful Coptic Christian Bible manuscript leaf. It dates to the 18th century. Being made in Egypt. The size is about 9 3/4 in. x 13 1/2 in. which is too big for my scanner, but I was able to get all the handwritten words) It is written on thick paper. Ethiopia: Ethiopian Orthodox Church Geez manuscript. The manuscript has 62 pages or 31 leaves. It measures 11.5 cm x 8 cm and more than 300 years old with 3 handpainted icons. This is a extremly rare Coptic Manuscript leaves found in the Ethiopian country. This Bible has two hand carved wooden covers with leather on the front and back through which very fine holes are drilled and strung with string which goes through all the pages to make a very simple yet effective binding. The pages are made of goat skin called vellum that has an amazing parchment like texture. The writting is in black and red paint or ink(red usually being reserved for the names of God.
