Bauhaus Machine Age Bronze Candlesticks, 1920-30s Weimar / Hagenauer Era
For your consideration. A refined pair of machine age bronze candlesticks. The candlesticks are unmarked but likely originate from 1920s Germany or Austria based on design and materials(manufactured items prior to 1930 did not have to have state the country of origin due to tariff laws of the time) The simple, futuristic design practically screams Weimar Bauhaus. The candlesticks are in good vintage condition with a lovely aged patina. Picture 2 shows some surface scratching to one of the candlesticks Pictures 3 and 4 show dints and dings to the bronze. There is some wax residue where the candle fits which I have not cleaned in order to retain the patina. The bases can be unscrewed from the candlesticks. The candlesticks are QUITE heavy, weighing 11 pounds. The hole for the taper measures 3/4 inch in diameter. The candlesticks measures 11.75 ... moreinches in height and 2 7/8 inches in diameter. The comic is in Fine+ to Very Fine- condition or better. Kept as store stock, bagged with a board, and in very nice shape, with minimal signs of wear, including a couple blunted corners and tiny nicks around the edges(see picture) The comic is flat, complete, and well-preserved, no pages or pieces are missing, no creases or wrinkles, no stains, it has great color gloss, and the cover and all interior pages are securely attached. Any white streaks seen across the cover in the picture are just scanner light reflected on the comic cover, not damage to the comic. A very nice copy for some collection. Bronze Age Avengers comics (#80-90)
These have been bagged and boarded in a comics box for 30 years. I want to emphasize that I am not a comics grader. But I will point out the flaws I see as honestly as I can. This is a nice lot of Avengers 80-90, plus a copy of The Official Marvel Index to the Avengers#4. Which gives great background on the issues in this run. Here's what I see: inside on page 1 of issue 86 someone wrote in ink"magazine is the personal property of Mike Peterson 1-3-75. Issue 87 has a hanging chad on the bottom right corner of the cover and each page(faulty cut in factory? And issues 81 and 88 are darker than the other copies in this lot. Other than that there is minor shelf wear and a few minor creases on some of the issues, but the colors are vibrant and most of the edges are are sharp for 40+ year old comic books. Paypal only. It's not The Winter Soldier, but it's still pretty cool! They're written by Steve Englehart, John Warner, Steve Gerber or Roger McKenzie and drawn by Sal Buscema or Frank Robbins! Copies of these issues have been known to sell for anywhere between $15 bazillion and $25 mutlipijillion, some as high as $50-$60 zillion! The issues are in pretty decent shape for issues that have actually been opened and read. May have been in the presence of someone who smokes or owns a pet and never answers your texts within a reasonable time frame! They have some dings and blemishes about them(ish 186 has a smallish tear on the spine.
