This unusual fabric features Egyptian symbols including papyrus. Lotus, birds, and various foliage on alternating bands of light and medium brown. This intriguing fabric was removed from a quilt, so there are small holes from where the quilting was removed, as well as some 2-3 inch spots. Antique Statue This auction is for a really nice and very rare antique art deco statue or sculpture. The statue is shaped like an Egyptian canoe or boat with a really tall sail and the entire piece is chrome plated and it has a four piece construction– the girl. The sail, boat and then the stylized waves that are splitting under the canoe. The piece is definitely art deco, from the 1920s-1930s range and may be from Wein, Austria. Just a great piece and in great condition. The only issue I find is that the sail doesn’t slip all the way into the shaft for some reason– might need to clean out the hole or something. Antique French Bronze Champleve Enamel TAZZA Candlestick Egyptian Aesthetic Mvmt
You are viewing an antique French champleve enamel on bronze tazza with a single candlestick. It is one of two pieces of enameled bronze I have for sale this week. It is decorated in the Aesthetic Movement taste of the late 19th Century and was probably made some time around 1880. It has elements of Egyptian Revival and Classical Revival. Both tazza and stand have a Greek key border and an archaic style. The main colors of enamel are light blue and navy blue interspersed with green. Red, and white. The candlestick is sectional and breaks down to at least six separate pieces. The ornament stands approximately 10 1/2 inches tall and is approximately 4 3/4 inches in diameter at the widest point. It is in generally good condition with some scratching and missing enamel, notably where the base attaches to the central column. Profusely illustrated. Volume I = 327 pages. Volume II = 388 pages. Condition: Very Good Antique Condition. From the day they are published. Large volumes like these are vulnerable to stress and wear: the weight of the pages vs. the strength of the binding, the unwieldiness in handling, storage problems posed by the large size, etc. This rare two-volume set of PICTURESQUE EGYPT has just been restored by a professional book conservator. New cloth spines have been added, with the original cloth and gilt decoration ... morelaid on. The bindings have been strengthened and the hinges repaired. Both volumes are securely bound and ready to be enjoyed. The exteriors are as shown in photos, all gilt decoration still bright. The text is clean and complete with no loose or missing pages. Page 182 in Volume I has a long tear down the inside margin, from the top edge to about the middle of the page, but this does not affect text or illustrations. Volume II has some minor tidemarks on the top edge of some pages, again not affecting content. Otherwise these two books are in very nice condition and with proper care will last at least another 135 years. DESCRIPTION: This is a large. Folio-sized, lavishly-illustrated two-volume set of PICTURESQUE EGYPT. The shawls were the perfect accessory to the sleek flapper evening dresses of the period, and they remain incredibly elegant to this day- if you can find them in good condition! This is a lovely example- it is embellished with silver metal, so it drapes beautifully- like a liquid metal waterfall. Egyptian Epergne This wonderful old silverplate epergne is a perfect reflection of the Egyptian Revival movement of the late 19th century. Fine silver makers embraced the Egyptian craze. Creating highly decorative pieces with motifs inspired by the ancients, including pharaohs, sphinxes, and bird gods. This is a beautiful three-armed epergne with blue optical cut glass cups and detailed Cleopatra-like figural decorations. The center has a circular ledge which may have been added to replace a larger glass piece. It does provide a nice place for a pillar candle, but I'm just not sure it's original. It's easily removed, as shown in the first photographs. English Regency 6 Drawer Chest Dresser, Egyptian Motifs, Mahogany, ~1820 Antique
This is an English. Circa 1820, six drawer chest or dresser. It is made with thick, bookmatched mahogany veneer over pine, double raised panel sides, and fluted columns resting on strong spade feet. The original Egyptian Revival gilt brasses celebrated Britain's 1798 defeat of Napoleon in The Battle of the Nile, and the subsequent discoveries of Egyptian art and culture. The chest is 50" high, 40 3/8" wide, and 23 1/8" deep. Five drawers are approximately 6 3/4" high, and the bottom drawer is 8 1/2" high. I cannot find a maker's identification, but the frame and drawers are hand numbered in pencil. This chest was professionally refinished approximately 30 years ago, and it has been used irregularly since that time. Small areas in the secondary wood of the drawers were filled at the time of refinishing, but ... morethis appears to have been done for cosmetic purposes only. There is no movement in any of the joinery including the legs, and the drawers work very well for a chest of this age. As is appropriate, I suspect the chest with drawers weighs 250 lbs. There are age appropriate scratches and bumps here and there, and particularly on the top and top drawer face. Also, there is long-term wear to the veneer at the location of the ring pulls. Many of the hardware posts(which hold the ring pulls) have been replaced, and the two original posts on the bottom drawer are a bit loose. Further, some of the nuts that fasten the pulls to the drawers have been replaced. Lastly, one of the drawer locks is missing, as is the key. I would recommend Ball and Ball, Exton for the repair, replacement and or keying of the locks. I believe the clean lines and strong profiles of this chest exemplify good Regency furniture. Description Antique early 19th Century Egyptian Revival Solid Silver lidded sugar bowl. Beautifully engraved all over with Egyptian motifs and hieroglyphics, the cover in the same style terminating with a pointed finial. The bowl is not Hallmarked, but the workmanship is typically North-African/ Middle-Eastern. The piece is most probably Egyptian, made in the early 1900 in the Western Egyptian Revival taste for the wealthy English or French noblemen visiting the country.
