The pendant/ pin is quite large and measures approximately 1 3/8 inch in length by 1 inch in width and has a weight of 14.6 grams. The pendant was a brooch as well but is now missing the pin and attachments to be wore as a brooch; but I m sure a jeweller could easily add a pin- also. It appears the previous owner preferred a shiny finish to the Scarab as it has been coated with a clear varnish, but again that is easily striped without hurting the stone or metal if the new owner so wishes. vintage dagger ,dirk knife - Egyptian Damascus Sword - antique knife
One very old knife. Ancient Egyptian? I don't know. Not enough photos to properly describe it or do it justice but I'll do my best. First the brass or copper dog head? handle is octagon shaped& pinned with steel pins{not brass} around the dog headed frame& inserted into the metal and is smoothly seamed with no offset{unfeelable} I counted 13 steel rivets on top of handle alone that don't line up with the 8 on the bottom of handle. More rivets throughout handle. Then the blade has what looks like a mummy with fine detailing, pyramids and an alligator stretched over them in fine detail also. On top spline of knife towards point is notches& a false edge from them towards point. Back from notches towards handle is detailed brass in center of blade kind of life Damascus. I believe the side designs were cut& then folded ... morelike Damascus but left open& poured full of brass through the top but I'm no blacksmith. It's definitely hand made as you can feel some very little wavering towards the front& some of the detailing on sides doesn't quiet line up with the detailing on the other side. Whoever made it was a master bladesmith& appears he knew his stuff. The other side of knife is black with patina& oxidation& looks like it has been lost or set with one side up for a very long time and due to it you can't see the detailing as well{last photo} I havn't cleaned this knife only knocked the loose rust off& it has a very little bit of pitting, see photos} Thank you& please be sure to check out my other listings! Symbols, bird sun etc… A lovely and rare early piece, Good Condition- staining(we have not washed this item leaving it to a specialized dealer to do but do not think that removing the stains will be a problem. The red material mainly which is very thin is gone in places and should be easy to replace. Please study images carefully so you know what you are buying, Circa 1920's- we are putting this date to conform with the discovery of Tutankhamun. However this might be earlier. The detail of the girls face and dress is astonishingly good. The light is also excellent and the colors still strong. It is a beautifully executed watercolour very much in the Orientialist style. An offshoot of the Aesthetic Movement of the mid to late Nineteenth Century. I would estimate this was painted somewhere around 1875 to 1885. The colors are still strong and the artist has replicated the harsh light in the Egyptian climate very well as well as the pathos of the obviously poor girl. This lot was together when found. So selling altogether! The sphinx(about 4" long and 2" tall) and miniature pyramid are brass, the other items are a type of clay or plaster. None of the items are marked, the tomb has quite a bit of detail, and is about 6" long, x 2" x 2 1/2" tall, all of the plaster or clay items have some chips on the edges, also the mummy is not as bright a green as pictures came out, and incense burner shows the most wear.
