Ancient Egyptian Ushabti You are bidding on what I believe to be an ancient Egyptian Ushabti but since I can not be sure and have no provenance. The auction will start at a penny. When I acquired it from an eBay seller(whom I forgot) some time ago. I was certain it was 100% authentic- the hieroglyphs don't appear to be the jibberish you would expect to see in a reproduction, in fact it looks similar to some book of the dead passages I have seen. The glaze looks to be accurate but I really do not like the air bubble above the text register and a tiny one on his head. This statue certainly has the appearance of late period ushabti but could only date back to the mid twentieth century, possibly even to the grand tour(1840's) when tourists were sold these pieces as authentic. Egyptian amulet of Ra-Horakhty. A blue glazed faience amulet. Depicting the falcon headed god with sun disc on his head, striding forwards on an oblong base, with piercing through the back pillar for suspension. Condition: Complete and intact. Large Ancient Egyptian Late Period Faience Figure Of Bes - 664 BC
A particularly large ancient Egyptian faience amuletic figure of the god Bes. Dating to the Late Period, 664– 332 BC. Bes is depicted in imposing form as a squat figure with a pot belly. His arms held by the side and a mane-like beard. With his tongue sticking out in a sign of defiance, he stares out at us with a ferocious intensity, hinting at his role as a protector. The back pillar allows us to date this figure to the Late Period. Though small images of Bes were often worn around the neck, larger statuettes such as this piece are far rarer, especially in(near complete) condition. Ancient Egyptians believed that their world was inhabited by a host of malevolent forces. Ancient Egyptian wooden Isis wings. Dating to the Late Period, 664- 332 BC. These remarkable wooden wings are a rare example of ancient Egyptian wooden sculptural art. Originally they would have been affixed to a figure of Isis or possibly a protective Still with surviving pigment. Painted in black to denote the feathers, green and red is also present on the back of one wing. Even rarer are the textiles still wrapped to the surface of the wings and glued down with bitumen. These precious fragments are so well preserved that it is almost inconceivable that they are well over 2,300 years old. Length: 6 ¼ inches. Condition: Good. As shown. Unrestored. Provenance: Ex.
