The shabti(ancient Egyptian"shawabti" Was a funerary figure, placed in the tombs of wealthy individuals that, on account of its human appearance and hieroglyphic text identifying it, would fool the gods into thinking that the shabti was the deceased! This was important as all Ancient Egyptians might be required to perform menial manual labour in the afterlife, if summoned. So it became common practice among the highly religious and superstitious elite to place small figures(sometimes as many as 300) in their burial chambers, that could be substituted for themselves if need be. Thus manual work could be avoided, the shabtis"coming to life" if called and performing the work themselves. This exceptional sculpture is beautifully carved in limestone and features remaining black. Red and pink painted details. Isis is depicted seated on her throne with Horus straddling across her lap with his legs hanging over her left side. In this rare image Isis is fully clothed and not baring her breast for feeding. One of her hand is positioned across the lap of Horus and the other supports/holds his back. Her face is beautifully detailed with eyes defined in black. Here we have an ancient Egyptian Mummy wood pillow or headrest. I acquired this at a Lancaster County. Pennsylvania estate sale some years ago and have wondered ever since how it came to be this area. My guess is that it was picked up during the"Grand Tour" in the late 19th Century and remained in the family collection for generations. It has what appears to be a late 19th Century collector's label that is glued to the wood and tacked on with a square headed nail. In ink is written"Ancient Pillow- Wood- From Thebes- found under the head of- a Mummy" The base measures 9" X 2 3/4" and it is 5 3/4" at it's tallest point. It shows great age and patina. ANCIENT EGYPTIAN TURQUOISE FAIENCE UDJAT EYE Wedjat-Eye(Udjat) open work amulet in blue green turquoise color with black details faience pierced horizontally for suspension. Carol Andrews Amulets of Ancient Egypt page 46 At its most basic form the wedjat is a human eye with brow above and markings below; the latter take the form of a drop shape at the front and an uncurling spiral at the back. Said to imitate the markings on the head of the lanner falcon. Curiously enough, both right and left eye can be represented. The wedjat amulet is first found in the later Old Kingdom and it continued to be produced until the Roman Period, though, as might be expected over so long a time, its forms are many and varied. Even the materials from which it was made are as different as glazed composition and glass, both plain and polychrome, feldspar, lapis ... morelazuli, amethyst, sard, cornelian, chalcedony, obsidian, porphyry, haematite, agate, diorite, steatite, serpentine and gold. Rare Collection of 17 Ancient Egyptian Faience Beads and Amulets NR
Very rare collection of Egyptian Faience beads and amulets dating to approximately 2.000 years old. Beautiful Eye of Horus, Trumpet beads, and other figural pcs. There are some super rare figural beads here, including the brownish color one. It has nice detail that isn't showing in my image. It is also faience, I can see the blue when I look at it close-up. The trumpet at top is pretty sweet too, as is the the flat tabular bead. All are in perfect condition with the exception of the two beads on the lower left, which are missing their heads, and there is a nicely detailed woman's head sitting next to them. The stone eye of Horus bead is an unknown to me and I'm not sure of it's age. It appears to be Jasper. The long trumpet bead is 2" long.

This ushabti was cleared from the estate sale of a woman who was a Bermondsey antique dealer from the 1960s-90s. She had a large collection of Egyptian artefacts which we are listing throughout the coming weeks. Their provenance is unknown. But given the age of the collection, it is reasonable to assume that these had been collected through her long career in the antiques trade in London. There is no immediate connection to any grave or other place of worship which connects this sale to that derivation. This is an Ushabti which is made in faience. With the typical blue colour. Matt. Antique (Ancient) Egyptian Bronze Pendant. Sekhmet. 26th Dynasty/ Saite Period
This Ancient Egyptian bronze pendant was cleared from the estate sale of a woman who was a Bermondsey antique dealer from the 1960s-90s. She had a large collection of Egyptian artefacts which we are listing throughout the coming weeks. Their provenance is unknown. But given the age of the collection, it is reasonable to assume that these had been collected through her long career in the antiques trade in London. There is no immediate connection to any grave or other place of worship which connects this sale to that derivation. This is a bronze pendant depicting the goddess Sekhmet. This derives from the 26th Dynasty between 500-600 BC. Which is also called the Saite Period. This is in good condition; there is a small hole to the centre through which a hanging thread could be passed.
