Antique 1890-1920 vintage Cast Iron BABY CHICK chicken Hen Garden Gate Finial NR
Hello! Thank you for joining us in order to preview an exceptionally scarce and highly distinctive. Antiquarian cast iron farm/garden hardware keepsake for the farm house decorative accent, the collection or rustic restoration project. Offered here is an original(circa 1890-1920) cast iron Baby Chick, that has apprently lost her mother hen. Not knowing the exacting history behind this wonderful piece of cast iron; the little chick may have been part of an advertising sign or display at the regional grain store or farm/livestock jobber? The antiquarian farm animal(4 1/8" height x 2 1/8" base diameter) is open at the bottom, resembling what one may find with early fence post and garden gate finials. The early cast iron hatchling could possibly be put to use as a door stop; being quite hefty for its size. The antiquarian baby chick ... moreaffords the farm collector, some very nice detailing from the top of her head to her little feet, wading through the grass. The baby chicken shows some obvious patina, predominantly at the base and collar interior/edges(see pics) There is a small hole at the toes of the baby chick as well. The antiquarian cast iron primitive presents very well as a shelf sitter or as a vintage garden accent. If I am wrong I stand corrected. The conditions are very good with springs in place and working. There is some paint in places as you can see with one that had been stripped. The two shown in the picture together have the numbers 5 and 2 printed on them. Not sure about the 2. Could be a 3) One weighs 5 lb 5 oz. and the other weighs 5 lb 8 oz. The one shown by itself is a different style with no markings on it. It weighs 5 lb 8 oz. Window weights are 90 years old. They are cast iron. So they have rusted over time. Unfortunately. There is no RD no. or stamp of any sort so it's hard to date them but they look to have some reasonable age to them.definitely antique. All have raised lettering with the weight and not positive. But looks like the words, Patent? and July? and then possibly the year? There are 4 weights that are 2 1/2 lbs and approx.6 1/2" long. And. 4 that are marked as weighting 3 lbs. each and approx. 7 1/2" long. They will a great addition to the truly antique items. Great for real intended use or a cool anchor. Please see the pics. Here we have 16 cast iron window sash pulleys taken out of an old Victorian home. These are made of cast iron and are built to last. I did not attempt to clean them up as I will let the new owner clean them up to there liking. They measure 4' tall and are 1' wide with a 2' diameter pulley wheel. The screw holes are 3' on center. 3 Vintage Brass Plated Cast Iron - Steel Transom Window Pull Latches / Catches
My father had a hardware store from 1946 to 1983. When he closed it. He brought the merchandise to his house where it has been since. He recently passed away and it is now my task to sell this merchandise. For sale is 3 Brass plated cast iron-steel transom window pull catches. They are unused and appear very old. I have pictures of each one. The first one is in pretty good condition. 2 of them has poor finish especially on the pull. 3 also has poor finish and some rust on the pull. All handles return OK when pulled. Notice the casting on the tips of the pull. The catch measures 1-1/4" wide x 2-1/4" long x 1/2" high and 2-1/2" long from tip to end of hook and 1-1/4" high overall. The hook is about 5/16" thick.
