It has a basin to hold water that, when filled, flows over a water wheel that turns. Missing is the large ceramic dish that fits under the entire piece and holds water for the pump. Water is pumped from under the unit by a pump inside the log cabin that fills the basin; while I have not used water, when I plug the unit in, it looks like it works fine. Still has two original Metlox Poppytrail labels on the roof of the cabin and one on the side of the basin, and a pump label on the cabin front. Excellent condition; the only damage I can see are two very tiny chips on the bottom edge of the cabin front that aren't visible when the cabin is put on its base. Unusual and awesome. Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique cast iron. Hayes Pump& Planter Co. Well Pump. This old pump is in good condition and was found at an old farm estate in Central Iowa where the pump had been sitting unused on an old well for many years. As you can see in the pictures, the pump is marked with raised, embossed lettering that reads, MF’D BY HAYES PUMP& PLANTER CO. on both sides of the body ~“GALVA, ILL. U.S.A. on both sides of the spout and“HAYES GALVA, ILL. on the base as well as having embossed part numbers on the various pieces of the pump. The handle raises, lowers and works just as it should and the pump could easily be reconditioned to pump water. It appears to have been repainted silver a long time ago with the paint worn thin or entirely away in some places. The pump is just as I found it with an old repair ... moreon the neck and a place on one side of the base that does not extend as high up as the other side. Both of these points are easily overlooked and did not prevent the pump for being used. As you can see in the pictures. The old water pipe extends below the base roughly six inches- Most of the time this would be cut off. However if you’re looking for a pump to use as décor. Just push that section of pipe in the ground or use it as an anchor if you cement in into place. Either way. It won’t go anywhere and no additional work will be needed. If you want to cut the pipe off. It can easily be done. Overall height from the base to the top of pump. Excluding the water pipe that goes below the base, is roughly 42 inches. Just a nice old. Hard to find pump for the collection or for use. Please refer to the pictures and feel free to email with any questions. This is for the Antique Vintage Chandler Co. Cast Iron Well Cistern Pump pictured only. This was a recent estate sale find. When I aquired this item something about it just did not look right. After looking it over I realized that it was manufactured without a spout. It is missing the pump rod and since it has no spout there probably should be more to it. But i don't know what it would be. This will not stand up on its own and will need to be supported in some way. This has a lot of surface rust but there are some very small areas where the original red paint is showing through. Antique Pittsburgh Pump Co. Well Pump
With your winning bid you will receive a Pittsburgh Pump Co. well pump. This pump is very rare. With the research I did on this I couldn't hardly find any. I broke the pump down did a mild restoration on pump and left every nut and bolt original and not replaced. Upon sand blasting I noticed that the center shaft was brass so I cleaned it and gave it a light polishing as seen in picture. The handle was wooden wich I have never seen before on any other pump, it was rotted away, any broom handle would easily fit and be able to be bolted into it. I will break the whole pump for shipping purposes, and is easily put back together by looking at pictures. This pump could easily be put into use, by replacing check valve, gasket and wooden handle. Vintage Cast Iron Farm Pump Antique Old Pumps Garden Vintage cast iron farm pump. It was made by the Red Jacket Manufacturing Company of Davenport Iowa. It appears that someone has recently painted it. This design of pump has the rotating head design. Just losen the bolt and rotate the head and handle to which ever way you desire. This fine old piece would look great in your garden! Approximate Measurements The pump is 17" tall. The base has a 8" diameter. The handle is 18" long and the spout is 4" long. Markings Red Jacket Mfg Co. Davenport Ia. Condition Good condition for its age. There is one area on the handle that has been repaired. See pictures. Antique McDonald well water pump manufactured in Dubuque. Iowa. This is in extremely good condition! Missing one square nut and that bolt is stripped but can be replaced easily. Pump has been inside our home since it was built in 1900. It was used for cistern water in our basement. I cut the supply pipe off on the bottom and if you want to actually use it. You would need to heat that up with a torch to remove the pipe. All of the other nuts and bolts cam loose without effort. No cracks or chips in this pump. It has spent it's life in our basement. I have wire brushed most of all the paint. Will ship same or next day in a very secured bubble wrapped box! Sent USPS insured. A just out of the crate GEM chain pump[ patent date Aug 25 1903] It measures 37" tall and the cap is 6 1/2" wide by 14" long. I cleaned off 100 years plus of dust off of it. Looking at the pictures you can see that the handle and spout and other hardware was hanging from a wire down inside of it. Everything on the pump is in excellent condition. No broken or bent pcs. I put it all together and it turns like it should, but it could use just a little oil. On the top part one can see some of the packing paper still stuck on it. I never used anything but water to clean it up, so if someone uses the right cleaning solution on this pump it would look even better. The outside housing is galvanized steel, it does have some blemishes on it, but I seen no dents or rust. I do not have the chain part that somehow runs on the wheel to bring ... moreup the water, so I would have to say this pump is for decorative purposes only. The packing crate would go with it.
