Rare Antique Lyons Magnetic Insect Killer Duster Old Farm. Garden Tool c1880s Description: This is an antique Lyons Magnetic Insect Powder insecticide duster. It was used on the farm primarily to rid chickens of lice. But was also used in the garden to apply insecticide to plants. It dates, I would guess, to the late 1800s. It has a tin litho label and is in very good working condition(as I found out when I pressed down on the plunger and insecticide powder blew out) The plunger button is brass and embossed with the company name. Can cylinder is 4 1/4" in diameter and 4 1/2" wide. Hand pump works. I haven't been able to get the cap off of the can part. Vintage condition is overall good with heavy patina. But good graphics. Collectible 1892 Black Flag Garden Pesticide Duster Squeeze Container In Hand
This is one of the coolest items I've ever owned! I bought it at an estate sale. I left the explanatory tag on it. Which is the way I bought it, and it explains everything. It's an extremely collectible Black Flag duster that still works and is from 1892. The attached tag gives the name of the original purchaser, her son, date bought and the fact that it was either donated to a museum in Willmar, MN in 1966 and the family got it back.or it was intended to be donated and never got there. It's in marvelous shape for it's age, 122 years old. It appears to be tin, the graphics are still good, the bottom is still shiny and the rest has the finish dulled and one small area on the cover has slight damage. The body of it shows no other dents or dings. You can still very easily squeeze down on the cover and if there was the garden ... morepesticide dust inside, it would be expelled on the garden pest areas. I have not tried to open it. It measures: 2 3/4" across and the rim of the duster is 1" tall. It raises up in the middle of the cap, allowing for the dust to be squeezed out. This is truly a piece of"Americana" history!

Here we have a Vintage Lowell Manufacturing Co. Chicago Garden Sprayer. This vintage sprayer was made to use as a garden sprayer or'duster' by LOWELL MANUFACTURING CO. This early graden sprayer has a great vintage look with vibrant pink and green graphics. It is 16"L with a 3-3/8 x 3-3/4" solution tank that is emblazoned with a star on each side. I have not tested it but it appears to be all there. I personally think that this is a great historical display piece from the early days of insect control. Neat to display!
