The sower has a burlap/canvas bag on top that you would add the seeds into then it has a wood base the holds the bag and attaches it to the metal sower. Has a metal and wood handle on the side that you would turn to sow the seeds. This is a very unique piece of early americana. Please see pictures. Can imagine the farmer walking around holding this machine to sow his seeds. This would look nice on display. Piece is intact. Metal is discolored and rusty. Burlap/canvas bag is fraying at the edges and tearing in spots has been repaired before can see stitch marks. Handle still turns the wheel at the bottom to sow seeds. This is an antique seeder/fertilizer by Cyclone. I have not cleaned this in any way and what you see will be the same condition in which you will receive it. It's in pretty good condition for its age but has a tear on the bag at one end where the strap attaches to the bag(see photo) Some wear on the bag where it attaches to the wooden base- especially on one corner(see photo) and some edge frays on the strap and bag border. The mechanism turns surprisingly smoothly and the directions for spreading/sowing granular fertilizer and cover crop seeds is still attached to the base. Manufactured in Urbana. Indiana-USA. Wonderful primitive decor piece. The canvas has no holes and includes the original strap. The metal spreader has a lovely patina giving it some interest and texture. The inside looks like it was hardly used. The red paint is still intact and the hopper is shiny. The print is still vibrant even after all these years. The canvas does show signs of age and could use a cleaning(I did not attempt) or leave as is to add more interest to this great focal piece. It measures approx 16.5" high and about 16" across. Antique"Cyclone" Seed Sower manufactured by the Cyclone Seeder Company of Urbana. Indiana. Cloth bag is in good condition with a couple of patches on the back(see last picture) Small paper tag provides instructions for various types of seed and has a printing date of 1947 on it. Mechanism still works but clips the holding bar. Appears to have been dropped at some point. A little bit of rust on some of the metal parts. The base measures 16" long x 8" wide. A very piece for display, but not very practical for use. Shipping weight approximately 4 lbs. No reserve! Very Fast Handling! Ships day after payment is received.
