Large Antique Cast Iron Cherub Statue Planter Urn Sculpture Lawn & Garden
Here is a beautiful old large solid cast iron cherub garden statue. The statue is quite large and measures about 34" high. The base is 12- 13" in diameter, and this is a very heavy solid piece. My guess would be 70 lbs or more, but I have not weighed it. It is a lovely piece, a nude cherub child, draped with cloth, and holding a large urn/ planter. It has some areas of rust, but in general, is in great condition. It looks like there may have been repair on his one hand that is holding the urn, but it is difficult to tell as his knuckles may be bent- I have shown a picture of this area. This is a beatiful lawn or garden or lakefront piece, and would look stunning with a beautiful flower pot placed in the urn. I am listing this item as local pickup only- although we would be willing to drive 50- 100 miles to arrange a pick up. I purchased this wall planter at an estate sale and painted it in white then gave it a distressed look. It has the look of old cement but I believe it is made of some type of plaster. Up for Auction is an Antique Lead Cherub Garden Fountain I believe this fountain is English. And form the 1880's- 1900. I've seen this on the web, and most say that they were made in England. In the late 1800's. It looks as though the Cherub is holding a flower atop his head. Which is where the water spews out into the flower, and spills over in front of the Cherub. I think the fountain should be in the center of a water feature. As a main attraction. The fountain is in overall very good condition. I think it will need to be re-plumbed. The water feed tube has been flattened over time. This fountain is very heavy. About 70 pounds. The fountain stands approximately 31 Inches Tall. This is really a gorgeous piece of chalkware statuary. A sweet cherub holding up a large circular dish. This dish has been described in many ways; a birdbath. A soapdish, a garden piece that holds birdseed, a vanity piece that you could throw coins into- Take your pick. Personally I would use it as an interior decor piece. It's very attractive, the quality is outstanding, made in the 50's by the Alexander Backer Co, this piece stands the test of time. It has the original felt protection on the bottom of the piece, and is(overall) in very good condition- however in photo 4, you can see where the interior surface of the"cup" has some scratches and surface chips. They look like they may have been made by someone tossing coins into it over a long period of time) The body of the piece is chip free. I purchased this piece from the architects son of the new complex that was built. This heavy 40 pound iron plaque came from a 1900 building on Chicago's south side. It measures 13.5" by 12" and it is solid heavy painted iron. Paint is chipping and peeling in places. This weighs a ton, so before hanging it, make sure you find a stud! Incredible Victorian cherub head in full relief. This is an exquisite rare salvage item. My guess is it was made by the architect, one of a kind, as a commemorative for the building. Here is a beautiful garden statue of a young child sitting on a jug. I have seen this statue referred to as Jug Boy. This was purchased at an estate auction so I am unsure of the actual origin or age of the piece. Though it is in beautiful condition. I do not know if the gold is the original finish or if it has been restored, but it is lovely. There are some small chips of paint gone here and there, but overall it is wonderful. It has the hole in the base and the hole in the bottom of the jug to be set up as a fountain. What I found most unusual is the weight of this piece- it is extremely heavy and weighs over 52 lbs! It stands about 22" tall. Because of the weight, I am hesitant to ship, so am listing this as local pickup only. This beautiful Roman. Inc. Joseph's Studio statue is heavy(close to 6 lbs. in weight) and is cast from designer resin that looks very much like distressed cement with a mossy green finish- this is a beautifully detailed 19”tall winged cherub/ putto, sitting on a pedestal with a small bird in his hand. The pedestal base is designed to look like rock. And it has detailed roses on the front side, trailing down to the ground. The cherub has a robe draped around his shoulders and looks as though he is speaking to the tiny bird in his hand. He has a very angelic look on his beautiful face and he is a soft greenish color overall, made to look like weathered, distressed stone.
