Vintage W L Davey Corp Cast Iron/Brass Hand Well Water Pump Farm Tool Primitive
Vintage pump marked W. L. Davey Corp. Rockford. Ill. This pump measures 20" tall, the base is 9" x 4 1/2" and the handle is about 18 1/2" long. The top spout part is threaded and is 1" the other one 1/2 way down is also threaded and is 3/4" The body part is brass as well as some of the other fittings, the rest is cast iron. The handle moves freely, there are no cracks, welds or breaks in the cast iron. There are various cast#s on a few of the parts, see pictures for details. Hasn't been tested or used in years, might need new"guts" or would be great for garden decor. Ships USPS Standard(economy) or Priority w/$5.00 handling which includes tracking and insurance.

This auction is for three very old sets of plow tines. These old fella's time have come to an end in the plow field. But still have plenty of use to go in the way of art and deco. I have done no restoration to these items, just in case the customer wants this rustic look that can only be done by mother nature. These would make for a great deco piece in the lawn or garden. Actually anywhere, now that I think about it. Here in the Ozarks people use them for garden accent pieces and fence decor. These could be used in great industrial art pieces, coat racks and tack hangers in the barn or garden. I have found no cracks or breaks in the tines. They are in surprisingly very good shape despite their age. I can not find any identifying maker's marks on this item without removing the patena. The early milking parlor pail maintains that strong quality, seen with REEVES products; having those heavy seams and tough rivets. The vintage farm, watering, feed or garden bucket appears to be roughly four gallons, with the steel bucket standing 10 1/2" height x 12 3/8" top diameter x 9 5/8" base diameter. Great antique/vintage metal bucket with awesome blue paint. Wonderful patina with rust. Scuffs, marks, etc typical of age and use. Measures 8 7/8" tall x 5 3/4" at bottom and 6 3/4" at top. There are four tiny pinholes are edge of bottom, so this could not hold water. There are two seams on this bucket that run from top to bottom. Top edge is rolled/folded over. There is a round opening on one side near top(about 1/4" around) making me wonder if this was possibly use to hang on a tree and collect sap? Windmill Water Pump, Challenge Co., Hand Lever, Cast Iron, Vintage, Farm, 1492
Used. Windmill or Hand Operated Water Pump Housing, Lever and other components. Manufactured by the Challenge Company in Batavia, Illinois, probably in the 1920's but I'm not sure of an exact date. Nice looking cast iron pump housing. Lever and pivot. Base would allow anchoring for display(I'll include a"dummy, not original equipment" sucker rod to help position handle, not pictured) or use these good components for repair parts! The numbers"1492" are cast into the lower part of housing. These might be a model number. Not sure. Challenge Co, Batavia ILL is also cast into the housing. The number"18" is cast into the lever, the letter"C" on the connecting link and the number"919" on the parting rod guide. The pump housing with the pivot casting on top, measures about 45-1/2" ... morein overall height and the base is about 10-1/4" diameter. The handle is about 39" long as shown in the picture. There is evidence of possibly factory"as manufactured" repairs on the spigot. You can see small rectangular pieces of what appear to be cast iron inserted in a couple of spots(see pictures) There is also an old"weld repair" to the housing. Just above the end of the CHALLENGE CO/BATAVIA ILL script(see picture) There is a small"notch" in the base edge and other nicks and dings from use. I don't see any other repairs or cracks but without putting water to it, I don't know for sure. There is a"cast line" on the side of the base of the top casting that looks like a crack but when examined from the inside/end, there is no crack and it is evident that it is"as cast" This IS NOT a complete working pump. It has some heavy rust from sitting in the dirt in the area where three spokes connect to the outer rim. Not rusted all the way thru, still fully sound but some rusted out chips.
