Antique 1890-1920 vintage Cast Iron BABY CHICK chicken Hen Garden Gate Finial NR
Hello! Thank you for joining us in order to preview an exceptionally scarce and highly distinctive. Antiquarian cast iron farm/garden hardware keepsake for the farm house decorative accent, the collection or rustic restoration project. Offered here is an original(circa 1890-1920) cast iron Baby Chick, that has apprently lost her mother hen. Not knowing the exacting history behind this wonderful piece of cast iron; the little chick may have been part of an advertising sign or display at the regional grain store or farm/livestock jobber? The antiquarian farm animal(4 1/8" height x 2 1/8" base diameter) is open at the bottom, resembling what one may find with early fence post and garden gate finials. The early cast iron hatchling could possibly be put to use as a door stop; being quite hefty for its size. The antiquarian baby chick ... moreaffords the farm collector, some very nice detailing from the top of her head to her little feet, wading through the grass. The baby chicken shows some obvious patina, predominantly at the base and collar interior/edges(see pics) There is a small hole at the toes of the baby chick as well. The antiquarian cast iron primitive presents very well as a shelf sitter or as a vintage garden accent. Vintage, Cast Iron Window Weights for sash windows, 3 pcs, Antique, 5.5 lbs each
You are bidding on 3 cast iron in-wall window weights/counterweights. They came out of original sash windows from a house built in 1924 so they are about 90 years old. There are 2 different styles. The two shown in the picture together have the numbers 5 and 2 printed on them. Not sure about the 2. Could be a 3) One weighs 5 lb 5 oz. and the other weighs 5 lb 8 oz. The one shown by itself is a different style with no markings on it. It weighs 5 lb 8 oz. Window weights are 90 years old. They are cast iron. So they have rusted over time. There is obvious corrosion to the metal, but they still perform the function they were meant to perform. The hole where the sash would loop through is still in good structural condition. Here is a SET OF 2 original authentic antique Eastlake Victorian style window sash locks and keepers. These are not reproduction items. These were recovered from the original sash windows from an old Massachusetts farmhouse during a home energy upgrade. They are over 115 years old. But they still function properly. The latches have a paten date of March 24.1868. All are in working order and the knobs are brass. They are as found, I don't clean or polish things. Cleaned and the knobs polished they would be great. I wish there were more latches but that is what was in the box, I did have to oil one to get it to move. BEAUTIFUL great antique old vintage SLAG GLASS WINDOW cast iron frame Victorian
AWESOME old three-paneled slag glass window in cast iron(steel? frame. the frame is magnetic and heavy. The window weighs ~15 lbs and still retains some of the hinges that attached the window frame to the house. And there are two small lengths of metal chain that were used to hang the window as a decoration. Overall dimensions of window including frame are 32.25" x 22" x 1" the thickest part of the frame is about 1" thick. The glass is not that thick) Each slag glass panel measures 9.5" x 20" The middle panel has two cracks which both emanate from the same point near the frame and travel in different directions across ~half of the panel. The glass is not loose and the cracks are very hard to see given the color and nature of the slag glass. Look at the pics. I tried to show the cracked panel as best I could. ... moreI will ship this in bubble wrap with a piece of wood board strapped to each face of the window for maximum protection.
