Wonderful 8 pc lot of cast iron window sash locks that have a beautiful Victorian Eastlake design. Some have a little more wear than others. But all are in overall good antique condition. Please look closely at the pictures. They have a patent date of Oct. 18 of 1883 on the back. The inner latch works are cleverly concealed. These antique locks seem to be in great working condition. They measure 2 1/4" high all put together. The top eagle claw piece measures about 2" wide, the holes are 1" apart. The smaller bottom piece measures the same. Great piece for remodeling. Antique Victorian Bronze& Cast Iron Eastlake Window Sash Lock Pat 1880's, Very Nice Antique Window Sash Lock w/ keeper Cast Iron VICTORIAN/ EAST LAKE Detail and Quality were very important in the Victorian Era. This lock is great condition. The keeper still has sharp details. These have a swing arm eagle claw mechanism made of cast iron and the keeper is cast iron. Lock and keeper may have a couple spots of old paint on them. Lock has a Pat. date of 1883 or 1888 it’s really difficult to read. The grasp has a 3 ¼” grip ... moreopening or what I would call an average size hand 4 finger pull. These would have had a brass finish but only a speck or 2 of that is remaining along with a speck of old paint at places. They also have a spotted smooth darken appearance with light smooth surface rust. If you lightly wipe these down and give them a clear coat these will retain their patina for many more years to come. These would work great on large windows or screen doors or on heavy drawers. These are well made and nothing like the cheaply made imports of today. Welcome! You are bidding on an old Late 1800s Antique 8-Pane Basement Window with five panes of bumpy'crinkle' original glass. And one old pane of bumpy glass that looks like fossils. One pane has been replaced with modern transparent glass and one has been removed for a dryer vent, so there are 6 panes of very old glass still in this window and uncracked. Window was removed from an old home in a better section of University City, Missouri(a suburb of St. Louis, Mo) There is a piece of old Masonite that the dryer vent went through. Wood and paint are old and appropriately worn/aged for their age-fantastic patina! Images show damage where a lock was attached and holes where the hinges were attached(hinges and screws included with window-I do not know if the hinges are original to this old window or not. I see no rotted wood on window-please ... moreexamine all 12 pictures before entering a bid, as this item is sold"AS IS, as pictured and described. Considering it's age, I think the wood is in phenominal shape for a window that was in use until 2003. Pictures do show deficits well. These hook together cleanly using the hook through the eye which has a narrow side for that purpose(see photo 2) When hanging and therefore straightened out. They can not come apart because narrow side is turned. This hooking together allows multiple weights depending on the size of the window. These are probably 1st half twentieth century.
