Antique French Architectural Wrought Iron Panel
This is an Antique French Architectural Wrought Iron Panel. We do not know specifically what sort of piece this came from. But it looks like it could have be from a section of ornamental fencing or gate, a pediment or top piece along a fence or gate, or from some other sort of piece. The person we got it from told us it was sold by an antique dealer who regularly imports containers of antiques from France. As you can see the section was cut at the ends such that the left and right sides are not symmetric. The overall maximum dimensions are about 33" wide by 16 1/2" tall. The profile of the wrought iron is about 1/2" x 1/4" The piece weighs nearly 10 pounds. Condition: The piece was painted a slate blue color as seen in the closeup photos in the lower photo group below this description. There is both quite a bit of paint ... moreloss and surface rust as seen. The piece is offered as found/ as seen/ as described. At the time of the original listing on regular ebay auction this was one of a number cast iron pieces we had offered for sale. Antique hinged garden fence with single post attached. overall width is 35" The post has a total height of 45" two 7 1/2" long spikes that would be stuck into the ground or cement and a 37 1/2" tall post with Victorian Gothic styling. The gate is 24" wide and 33" tall from end to end of the center. The hinge between gate and post is 3" wide and allows the gate to swing both ways. There is a stabilizing bar that helped to keep the post upright but the end is broken off and many years ago. Someone put an ornate Eastlake doorknob on the top of the gate handle. One of the cast rosettes on the upright iron post is partially missing. There is a coat of rust over a pitted iron surface but gate and post are well-made, solid and still functional. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. It has an arched top with hoops. There are great cast iron embellishments on the uprights and inside the hoops. The crossbars have large cast iron flower where they intersect. There is surface rust overall. It measures 43 inches long and is 42 inches tall. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are a couple of light bends. The keeper is damaged. One embellishment is missing. Good news! If you are looking for a nice old iron window box with lots of rustic primitive charm- your search is over! What I have is an older vintage wrought iron wall mounting window box- isn't it great? Made of wrought iron. This oldee has seen some time outside, and has the BEST ... moreshabby rusty patina. You can see just peeks of the original white(like I'm showing in photo 14) but the peeks are few and far between- mostly just the rust covered iron. It's surface only- no sharp edges etc. You could paint it if you wanted to, but I love it just the way it is. This is a nice sized box- measuring 35 1/2" widest- from the outside of the decorative curled loops all around, 32 1/2" wide measuring from inside of the box, 9 7/8" deep(front to back) on the outside, 8 1/4" deep inside the box at the top, 7 3/4" deep inside the box at the bottom/floor of the box, 5 3/4" tall measuring from the bottom to the top of the curly loops, and 4 1/2" tall from the bottom to the frame that runs along the inside(onto which the curly loops are welded) It weighs 5 1/2 lbs. At the back, there's 3 up pointing triangles from which you mount the box. Perfect for you to line with moss and plant in, but large enough for you to put individual potted plants in too. Oh my gosh- this pair is soooo cool! I'm calling them older vintage in my title. But I do think that they could be old enough to be antique- and how often have you see ones like this? It's a pair of wrought iron garden spikes- meant to stick in the ground and hold tall tapered candles. ... moreIt's a matching pair- perfect for the entry to your walkway or garden- and what a statement they will make! The each measure 39" tall in total, 38" tall to the top of the drip trays, the drip trays are 4 1/4" diameter, but 5 1/4" wide as there's a decorative loop of iron on 4 sides, 3/4" square at the candle well(it's square, as it's made of 4 pieces of flat iron coming up, but it held my grocery store bought standard tapered candles well when I tried them) and the pole that sticks in the ground is 3.8" diameter. The pole alone is 35 1/4" tall from the bottom of the drip tray to the bottom of the pole- so you have lots of room to adjust and decide- how tall, or how short you want them to be. Each candle holder weighs 1 1/2 lbs. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition. With a very very worn black finish that you really only see peeks of from the underside of the drip trays. On the top, and the poles, it's pretty much a coating of surface rust- surface only, with no holes, or eat throughs etc. There's more pitting to the iron on the bottom ends of the poles where they stuck in the ground(see photo 10- sorry for

Simple wrought iron fence This wrought iron is from the 1800's. It is all hand wrought and riveted as they used to before arc welding. The iron is made of square stock stock. It has a nice even rust patina but is not rotted. The rivets on the lower bar make for an interesting detail. You just don't see this anymore! The fence is 4 ft. wide and comes in 78 in. L sections. This beautiful hand made wrought iron entrance adorned the entrance way of one of the Mt. Clemens Mineral Bath Houses in Mt. Clemens. Michigan. We believe it dates to about 1885, and was last used there until the building was torn down in the 1950's. it was then disassembled and put in storage for another 50 years before purchased by the current owner. After bringing this beautiful piece home. The artist I am selling this for visioned this as a beautiful one of kind"Garden Entrance. As such, the artist realized that over 125 years had taken its toll on this piece, and much work needed to be done. For the next 2 1/2 years, he ground, filled, sanded and welded each element until he felt it was sweet enough to finish the last step. It was epoxy primed and epoxy painted.
