Vintage W L Davey Corp Cast Iron/Brass Hand Well Water Pump Farm Tool Primitive
Vintage pump marked W. L. Davey Corp. Rockford. Ill. This pump measures 20" tall, the base is 9" x 4 1/2" and the handle is about 18 1/2" long. The top spout part is threaded and is 1" the other one 1/2 way down is also threaded and is 3/4" The body part is brass as well as some of the other fittings, the rest is cast iron. The handle moves freely, there are no cracks, welds or breaks in the cast iron. There are various cast#s on a few of the parts, see pictures for details. Hasn't been tested or used in years, might need new"guts" or would be great for garden decor. Ships USPS Standard(economy) or Priority w/$5.00 handling which includes tracking and insurance.

Sizes, and colors. Sometimes when you stack one handle on top of another handle something interesting happens. Please see photos. All of these handles are used. But none of them are broken or horribly mangled. All of these handles have the center valve stem removed. And are ready to be mounted or fastened. Windmill Water Pump, Challenge Co., Hand Lever, Cast Iron, Vintage, Farm, 1492
Used. Windmill or Hand Operated Water Pump Housing, Lever and other components. Manufactured by the Challenge Company in Batavia, Illinois, probably in the 1920's but I'm not sure of an exact date. Nice looking cast iron pump housing. Lever and pivot. Base would allow anchoring for display(I'll include a"dummy, not original equipment" sucker rod to help position handle, not pictured) or use these good components for repair parts! The numbers"1492" are cast into the lower part of housing. These might be a model number. Not sure. Challenge Co, Batavia ILL is also cast into the housing. The number"18" is cast into the lever, the letter"C" on the connecting link and the number"919" on the parting rod guide. The pump housing with the pivot casting on top, measures about 45-1/2" ... morein overall height and the base is about 10-1/4" diameter. The handle is about 39" long as shown in the picture. There is evidence of possibly factory"as manufactured" repairs on the spigot. You can see small rectangular pieces of what appear to be cast iron inserted in a couple of spots(see pictures) There is also an old"weld repair" to the housing. Just above the end of the CHALLENGE CO/BATAVIA ILL script(see picture) There is a small"notch" in the base edge and other nicks and dings from use. I don't see any other repairs or cracks but without putting water to it, I don't know for sure. There is a"cast line" on the side of the base of the top casting that looks like a crack but when examined from the inside/end, there is no crack and it is evident that it is"as cast" This IS NOT a complete working pump. Other components not included in this auction would be required to make this item function as intended. Shipping note; these items will ship by UPS in two boxes due to the total weight. The base is approx 7 x 6" and the whole sprinkler stands five inches tall. This sprinkler under moderate pressure can cover an approximately 10' to 15' radius with a rotating 8"wand. Very Unique Vintage Antique Cast Iron Hand Cistern Well Water Pump. Great condition with no breaks or repairs to the cast. Nice black aged patina to the pump with some light rust here and there. Primer cap turns off easily and the pump handle is free. 15" tall and stands on a 7" triangle shaped base. No maker marks or numbers.
