Antique Wood Metal TRIUMPH Corn Pumpkin Seeder Seed Planter A C Kent One of our suppliers spends much of each month travelling all over the U.S. searching out rare primitive pieces like this. We never know what he'll come up with next. What we appreciate about his pieces is that he gets them back here and cleans them up to beautiful condition. This is a REALLY nice old piece. It's an antique" seeder" I believe you would pour the seeds in the metal box on the side of this piece. Then you'd hold the handles OUT.push the metal end into the ground.then pull the handles together. When you pull the handles together.it makes the metal sticking into the ground"open" When it opens.it releases the seeds from the metal box down the metal tubing that runs from the box down and into the ground. At least.that's how I'm"guessing" ... moreit works. You can find these old"seeders" from time to time.but MOST of the ones we come across are either UNmarked OR were never marked to begin with(many crudely handmade ones out there) What makes THIS one so precious is that the markings are still MOSTLY COMPLETELY Visible. AND the original maker is easily researched. Arthur C. Kent was a local distiller in Janesville. Wisconsin in the late 1800's. In 1872 he came up with the idea for this" seeder" He patented the idea and began making the Kent Triumph hand corn planter. This was the official start of the A.C. Kent Company. He later also sold clothes wringers. Fanning mills, etc. I believe he operated up until about 1912 or 1913. I'd never held one of these things before.although I've seen pictures of them in old advertising. Here's a similar one I found listed on page 28 of the book"Primitives Our American Heritage" by Kathryn M. McNerney: AND I've seen a few come up for sale before. Vintage tin- different idea for garden/ planting decor- Think this could look great in the Garden– Or to use as a Plant/ Flower Seed Organizer. A vintage well worn Workman’s Dome Topped Metal Lunch Box w/ Hinges from the 1940’s to early 1950. This particular lunch box shows quite a bit of rust on the base and some rust and scratching on the interior. So you might not want to carry your lunch in it anymore, but due to the size and the open hinged top– It would make a great garden Planter– or herb pot holder for a kitchen. Size: approx length is 10 1/4” width approx 4 3/4” height with the domed top closed and handle up is 9” depth of“planting” area is approx 3 ¾” I believe that this was made by the Thermos Company when it was in the U.S.A. Both are all metal with remnants of faded red paint. The dibble is 12' in length. the handle is 4" The head is 8" It has one minor dent which I tried to show in picture 4. It also has a 1/3" hole from use at the small end, it isn't very wide, maybe 1/8" It is completely solid and functional. The bulb planter is completely metal. The handle, the arms and the base. It has some markings on it but some have worn off. Four fasteners hold the handle on the base, there is a tiny bit of movement where the handle is attached. This tool is stable and functional. DAZEY PANACEA Metal Bed of Nail FLOWER ARRANGEMENT Planter STEM Frog Lot of 10
Lot of 10 Flower Frogs This is a lot of 10 assorted flower frogs that are all solid metal with a bed of nails(sharp! Some have some sticky putty on the bottom that I have not tried to clean and some have a bit of greenery debris in the nails. The green oval one is a Dazey No. 82(see pic) It is 4" x 2" and has floral foam still in the nails. There is a large round copper colored one that is 4" x 1" tall. A medium one is 4.25" round and has an square piece missing on one side. It isn't broken. It's supposed to be there. There are two smaller ones that are 1.5' round. One is black and the other copper colored. The two small ones are 1.25" round. One here is black and the other copper colored. The rectangle is 1" x 1.25" All are used and have some debris still in the nails. There are no nails ... moremissing. There is also a pack of two Panacea Products flower frogs. These are new in the box. Someone cut the box into a circle around the frogs, but they are still sealed in the package. They are 1" round. Be sure to look at the pictures for accurate descriptions of the the frogs. Feel free to ask any questions. I have several other types of flower frogs listed. Check out my other auctions. But still in very usable condition, and back is a heavy duty rubber. To hang, just put a nail through the rubber backing.
