But it looks like it could ... morehave be from a section of ornamental fencing or gate, a pediment or top piece along a fence or gate, or from some other sort of piece. The person we got it from told us it was sold by an antique dealer who regularly imports containers of antiques from France. As you can see the section was cut at the ends such that the left and right sides are not symmetric. The overall maximum dimensions are about 33" wide by 16 1/2" tall. The profile of the wrought iron is about 1/2" x 1/4" The piece weighs nearly 10 pounds. Condition: The piece was painted a slate blue color as seen in the closeup photos in the lower photo group below this description. There is both quite a bit of paint loss and surface rust as seen. The piece is offered as found/ as seen/ as described. At the time of the original listing on regular ebay auction this was one of a number cast iron pieces we had offered for sale. Simple wrought iron fence This wrought iron is from the 1800's. It is all hand wrought and riveted as they used to before arc welding. The iron is made of square stock stock. It has a nice even rust patina but is not rotted. The rivets on the lower bar make for an interesting detail. You just don't see this anymore! The fence is 4 ft. wide and comes in 78 in. L sections. The space between the vertical bars is 3.25 in. so it meets most code. There are 51 linear feet total in this auction. Your bid price is on the entire lot. We do ship all over. This came from a very old local estate; I'm sure it's over 100 years old. I was told that it was made by the old Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond. VA. It's a very heavy, wonderfully ornate decorative fence. It was encased in concrete at the house when I obtained it. There are J hook rods through the bottom of the posts. You could probably re-use them if needed, or just cut them off if you are using this for décor; as they are not needed for display purposes. This item is just the panel part of the fence. With 2 posts. There is NO door or gate function; this doesn't function as an actual entrance gate or security fence. As you can see from the photos, all 3 parts are separate ... morepieces and would need to be reassembled/put back together to make 1 full piece again. The posts are sort of loose and would need to be put back together. The finials are a pretty fleur-de-lis style. This fence would be used for décor or accent purposes. Cosmetically. The iron has an old, vintage, weathered patina. It doesn't get more perfect than this! It measures 4 feet tall and is 5 feet long. Nice lot of Antique wrought iron fence. we believe from circa 1890s. There is 57' 9 sections) of loop and spear fence in this lot. There are a few broke finials. Some slight bends, All sections had a bar in the center that was anchored in cement, these were cut off to remove the fence. The lead pics in the listing are of the entire lot. The pictures below are of each individual section. Each section has 3 pics except the first it has 4 to show the cut off anchor bar. The first section pics 1-4 is 90 1/2"long X 34 1/2"tall. 7 Antique Ornamental Wrought Iron Fence Sections, 10' each
Antique Ornamental Wrought Iron Fence? 7 sections. 70 feet This beautiful antique iron fence rail seven sections. Each measures approximately 10 feet in length and 25-1/2 inches high. It would have set about six or more inches off the ground. It dates to about 1900 and is machine wrought. The sections can be fitted on new brackets between new posts. Each 15-inch-wide design repeat. Of which there are eight in this section of the fence, has an alternating picket that may represent a flame or spirit symbol and a shepherd’s crook or staff, suggesting a good and evil or spiritual aspect to the fence. Or you don’t have to see that, just enjoy it for it’s visual pleasure, while keeping dogs into or out of your garden or yard. There are some irregularities. But it is all reusable. There is some rust at the very ends of the horizontal bars and angles ... morewhere bolts of another metal probably contributed to the corrosion. New joinry to new posts and refinishing is what would be required to make it functional again. There are no posts for this. But a talented iron worker could refit them to posts. There are many excellent reproductions out there. If you need a recommendation, ask for it. If you are concerned about the spindle detail if planning for a fence along a public walk, there are standard ball tips for that alteration to blunt the tip of the alternating pickets. The fencing may be adapted for use as a roof ridge cresting. If you’re considering installing an iron fence for your Victorian or vintage home. This is a must see. Antique Victorian 19th Cent. CAST IRON GATE & 5 ORNATE FENCE POSTS ++
BEFORE BIDDING please read our terms and pick up location in Northwest New Jersey toward the end of our description. DESCRIPTION: This lot was all found in a barn. There were no more pieces or fencing. 5-19th Century Fence Posts with Gate and an addition ornate piece from the fenceing. Possibly even well back into the 1800's. Even Civil War period.The fence post are gorgeous, the least one weighs is 78 lbs. they are heavy. The gate a bit on the plain side but early. It appears the posts were connected by pipes and the pipes went through the ornate pieces. But only one great ornate piece left. Now it appears it will take a little imagination and ingenuity to put these posts and gate to good use. Possibly even plugging holes in the posts and attaching to other fenceing. The posts are approx. 47 1/2" tall. The gate is approx. 51" ... moretall and 37 1/7" wide not counting latches. The gate has a slideing latch that looks like it went into a flat bar attached to one post. But the wired that and added that hand wrought large flip latch on the other side so I'm not sure what they did there. The posts have just a few small chips that are not a distraction. One post has a series of small holes near the top, not a big issue,these are thick heavy and strong. Rust is not bad at all, they were stored dry. The top of the gate is bent some and you will see one piece of curled flat iron broken off. If that bothers you it's as easy as it gets to weld a piece on before painting. Last I will mention the flat bar that the latch goes into does need a spot weld. As you can see, top finials must be tightened down. Exactly as found. For pick up, your dealing with between 500& 600 lbs. of iron. Some photos are a bit dark in the shade but please enlarge all 12 photos and you should have a pretty good look. In the Victorian age. Child mortality rate was ... morequite high. When a wealthier family had a child die, they quite often buried the child right on their property. The child would often be buried without headstone and have a fence erected around the area and turn the somber area into a small garden, so the child would continue to bring joy, long after the sorrow passed. Normally those gated cemetery gardens would be short ornate wrought iron fences. Thus making us think that that is what this is. Awhile ago from the same general area this came from we had another much like this with the same type of ornamentation. That was signed by a local blacksmith, John J. Comerford, thus the attribution. We ended up with two sections, this is the first of those two. The overall piece has 5 spear top spikes topped and four sections topped with a decorative Fleur de Lis cap as well as the two end bars. It does have the standard issues any 130 year old outside iron fence would have. It has a fair amount of oxidation. Some bends, old paint in several colors, BUT what an amazing fence section. VINTAGE CAST IRON GARDEN FENCE BORDERS - ARCHITECTURAL - WALKWAY Nice
This is an auction for 1 cast iron flower garden fence. They are 18"x18" total but depending on how far you put then in the ground they will be 10" at the shortest. Legs are about 8" long. This would be great for a decoration in a garden or a craft project. This auction is for 1 only. I want to see how it does before I list the others. Winning bidder may have the first chance at the others but doesn't guarantee it. I do have a total of 11 good ones with no damage a 3 that have some damage(1 missing both legs and 2 missing 1 leg) The damaged can be fixed by brazing rods to bottom which would be unseen when pushed in ground. These are not included in auction.

50' VINTAGE CAST?WROUGHT IRON GARDEN FENCE-EDGING-BORDERS-ARCHITECTURAL-WALKWAY
This listing is for a set of 41 pieces of Garden Border Fencing. These are not really an item I am familiar with and I couldn't find any exactly like them to compare. I believe they are vintage. Cast/wrought iron and“powder coated” not an expert, so these are guesses) They are very heavy, not cheap flimsy metal like modern ones. They do show some weathering. I do not have time to detail each and every mark. Most are in good condition, a few show more wear/rust than others(see close up of worst example, maybe 1/2 dozen or less) They have hooks/hinges on the ends to hold together/rotate direction. There are 30 that are about 18” wide and 11 that are 6” Which if I did my math correctly is about 50 feet. They stand about 18” tall, from the bottom of the stake to the top of the fluer de lis(height in garden would depend on how far down you ... morepush the stakes) Make sure to check the shipping tab for all price options(lowest doesn't always appear up top or on searches) Sorry shipping is high. Especially to the West Coast. These are very heavy, the larger pieces weigh over 2 pounds each, shipping weight is around 80 pounds.
