Use-wear, etc. but are good and sturdy and awfully neat. They make cool wall racks or hangers. Inside or out, or you could mount them on a handle and use them for garden tools. Three of the teeth at the end of the tines have started to rust away. The two outer tines are not straight. All of the tines are stable and secure. Not loose and wobbly. It's very cool! The weight is 2.4 pounds. I cannot determine if it is steel or iron. Wooden rake and a pitchfork. Farmers cut the hay. Raked it into piles, then pitched it onto a wagon. Early in the 19th century. Horse-drawn sickle bar mowing machines came to the hayfield. Now a man could cut more acres of hay per day with the mowing machine. But he could still put up only about two ... moreacres a day. Even though the scythe had been put away, farmers still had to rake the hay into doodles(piles) and fork it onto wagons. Vintage Old Rustic Rusty Garden Rake Head 14 Tine Primitive Farm tool Man Cave
Old rustic rusty early vintage metal garden rake head from NC. It has 14 tines. It is as found. I believe his is an early rake head going by how it's made. Not sure what year though. To me. It looks handmade not factory made because it is not perfectly made. NOTE Condition: The back of the rake head is not exactly straight especially on one side. and one corner is not squared off like the other corner. More a curve to it. Some of the tines are somewhat bent/curved. Condition is as found. I have not cleaned it except to get the loose dirt off. It's rustic/rusty. It measures approx. 14 3/4" long. 3 1/4" from back of tines to top of handle WIdth is approx. 3" The tines are approx. 2 1/2" long. This is made a little different than other rake heads. It only has a long straight narrow round stem that the handle had been ... moreattached to. I'm not sure how it could be hung up but I'm sure any crafty person could figure a way to hang it.
