While clearing out a four-generation 17-acre country estate I discovered on a shelf in the barn this original antique Sanco Floating Head Sprinkler. It is marked PAT. No. 1953837. 4-3-34. This design was patented in 1934 and these remarkable lawn and garden sprinklers were made in Ashtabula. Ohio. Measures 5.5 inches high and 7.5 inches wide the rotating sprinkler head floats on a cushion of water pressure. Includes the hose nozzle stamped"Allen. Once originally bright red this Sanco Floating Head Sprinkler has been used and worn to a gray metal patina. This topper weighs almost 8 pounds and is 9" tall x 7" wide(nose to mane) The bottom that attches to the fence or post is flanged. The opening is 2-1/2" in diameter and the flange above the opening is approximately 4" in diamter. The piece shows some age but still a beautiful piece of metal work.
