Vintage W L Davey Corp Cast Iron/Brass Hand Well Water Pump Farm Tool Primitive
Vintage pump marked W. L. Davey Corp. Rockford. Ill. This pump measures 20" tall, the base is 9" x 4 1/2" and the handle is about 18 1/2" long. The top spout part is threaded and is 1" the other one 1/2 way down is also threaded and is 3/4" The body part is brass as well as some of the other fittings, the rest is cast iron. The handle moves freely, there are no cracks, welds or breaks in the cast iron. There are various cast#s on a few of the parts, see pictures for details. Hasn't been tested or used in years, might need new"guts" or would be great for garden decor. Ships USPS Standard(economy) or Priority w/$5.00 handling which includes tracking and insurance.

I am listing a beautiful cast iron Leader hay trolley or unloader in excellent condition. It was manufactured in the late 1800's has a patent in raiswd letters on one side. This trolley has not been repainted but has been cleaned and give a coat of clear laquer. The cast iron polished up rea nice and has a beautiful patina. A lot of these old hay trolleys are absolute works of art. This one included. If your looking for a standout display piece you might want to consider this one. It is 17 1/2" long x 12 1/2" x 7" wide. Both sheaves and all 4 trolley wheels turn smoothly. There are no breaks or repairs. Hay trolleys are a great representation of early life on the farm and are very collectable. Up for sale is one of these vintage cast iron/metal steampunk farm plow spiked gear wheels. These gear wheels are great for yard or garden decor. Wall displays and even repurposed in making furniture or steampunk creations. Each wheel is missing one spike and has very similar wear from age as the ones pictured. The wheels vary from 17 1/4" to 17 3/4" in diameter depending on the wear to the ends. The center hole has a diameter of 1 1/8" and the wheel is 3 7/8" wide. Antique Cast Iron Hayes Pump & Planter Co Galva IL Farm Water Well Pump Hit Miss
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique cast iron. Hayes Pump& Planter Co. Well Pump. This old pump is in good condition and was found at an old farm estate in Central Iowa where the pump had been sitting unused on an old well for many years. As you can see in the pictures, the pump is marked with raised, embossed lettering that reads, MF’D BY HAYES PUMP& PLANTER CO. on both sides of the body ~“GALVA, ILL. U.S.A. on both sides of the spout and“HAYES GALVA, ILL. on the base as well as having embossed part numbers on the various pieces of the pump. The handle raises, lowers and works just as it should and the pump could easily be reconditioned to pump water. It appears to have been repainted silver a long time ago with the paint worn thin or entirely away in some places. The pump is just as I found it with an old repair ... moreon the neck and a place on one side of the base that does not extend as high up as the other side. Both of these points are easily overlooked and did not prevent the pump for being used. As you can see in the pictures. Windmill Water Pump, Challenge Co., Hand Lever, Cast Iron, Vintage, Farm, 1492
Used. Windmill or Hand Operated Water Pump Housing, Lever and other components. Manufactured by the Challenge Company in Batavia, Illinois, probably in the 1920's but I'm not sure of an exact date. Nice looking cast iron pump housing. Lever and pivot. Base would allow anchoring for display(I'll include a"dummy, not original equipment" sucker rod to help position handle, not pictured) or use these good components for repair parts! The numbers"1492" are cast into the lower part of housing. These might be a model number. Not sure. Challenge Co, Batavia ILL is also cast into the housing. The number"18" is cast into the lever, the letter"C" on the connecting link and the number"919" on the parting rod guide. The pump housing with the pivot casting on top, measures about 45-1/2" ... morein overall height and the base is about 10-1/4" diameter. The handle is about 39" long as shown in the picture. There is evidence of possibly factory"as manufactured" repairs on the spigot. You can see small rectangular pieces of what appear to be cast iron inserted in a couple of spots(see pictures) There is also an old"weld repair" to the housing. Just above the end of the CHALLENGE CO/BATAVIA ILL script(see picture) There is a small"notch" in the base edge and other nicks and dings from use. I don't see any other repairs or cracks but without putting water to it, I don't know for sure. There is a"cast line" on the side of the base of the top casting that looks like a crack but when examined from the inside/end, there is no crack and it is evident that it is"as cast" This IS NOT a complete working pump. You are buying one, put"2" in the quanity box if you want both of them. It is about 22 1/2 inch diameter. A big one. It has 11 spokes. 3" wide ground contact of rim. Cast iron. Heavy and sturdy made. Weighs about 31 pounds. Nice solid ornate decorative hub. Cast iron hub is bored for a 1 3/8" inch axle. Nice aged appearance. Has rust overall. It has some heavy rust from sitting in the dirt in the area where three spokes connect to the outer rim. Not rusted all the way thru, still fully sound but some rusted out chips. It appears that someone has recently painted it. This design of pump has the rotating head design. Just losen the bolt and rotate the head and handle to which ever way you desire. This fine old piece would look great in your garden! Approximate Measurements The pump is 17" tall. The base has a 8" diameter. The handle is 18" long and the spout is 4" long. Markings Red Jacket Mfg Co. Davenport Ia. Condition Good condition for its age. There is one area on the handle that has been repaired. See pictures.
