It has a basin to hold water that, when filled, flows over a water wheel that turns. Missing is the large ceramic dish that fits under the entire piece and holds water for the pump. Water is pumped from under the unit by a pump inside the log cabin that fills the basin; while I have not used water, when I plug the unit in, it looks like it works fine. Still has two original Metlox Poppytrail labels on the roof of the cabin and one on the side of the basin, and a pump label on the cabin front. Excellent condition; the only damage I can see are two very tiny chips on the bottom edge of the cabin front that aren't visible when the cabin is put on its base. Unusual and awesome. Antique Cast Iron Hayes Pump & Planter Co Galva IL Farm Water Well Pump Hit Miss
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique cast iron. Hayes Pump& Planter Co. Well Pump. This old pump is in good condition and was found at an old farm estate in Central Iowa where the pump had been sitting unused on an old well for many years. As you can see in the pictures, the pump is marked with raised, embossed lettering that reads, MF’D BY HAYES PUMP& PLANTER CO. on both sides of the body ~“GALVA, ILL. U.S.A. on both sides of the spout and“HAYES GALVA, ILL. on the base as well as having embossed part numbers on the various pieces of the pump. The handle raises, lowers and works just as it should and the pump could easily be reconditioned to pump water. It appears to have been repainted silver a long time ago with the paint worn thin or entirely away in some places. The pump is just as I found it with an old repair ... moreon the neck and a place on one side of the base that does not extend as high up as the other side. Both of these points are easily overlooked and did not prevent the pump for being used. As you can see in the pictures. The old water pipe extends below the base roughly six inches- Most of the time this would be cut off. However if you’re looking for a pump to use as décor. Just push that section of pipe in the ground or use it as an anchor if you cement in into place. Either way. It won’t go anywhere and no additional work will be needed. If you want to cut the pipe off. It can easily be done. Overall height from the base to the top of pump. Excluding the water pipe that goes below the base, is roughly 42 inches. Just a nice old. Hard to find pump for the collection or for use. Please refer to the pictures and feel free to email with any questions. Written on the bottom of rim- Barnes Mg Co Mansfield BB3. The center pipe is sticking out 2" below bottom rim. Pump stand 22" including center pipe and 20" tall without pipe. Arm measures 18 1/2" long and from end of spout to end of widest part of handle is 13 1/2" Circle base measures 8" wide. This is a great garden decor piece. But may also be fixed up for useage if you know what parts you need and how to hook it up. Does have vintage wearing as photos shows but no damages but am selling as a decor piece for it is not in working order. Barn fresh and has not been cleaned. Antique McDonald well water pump manufactured in Dubuque. Iowa. This is in extremely good condition! Missing one square nut and that bolt is stripped but can be replaced easily. Pump has been inside our home since it was built in 1900. It was used for cistern water in our basement. I cut the supply pipe off on the bottom and if you want to actually use it. You would need to heat that up with a torch to remove the pipe. All of the other nuts and bolts cam loose without effort. No cracks or chips in this pump. It has spent it's life in our basement. I have wire brushed most of all the paint. Will ship same or next day in a very secured bubble wrapped box! Sent USPS insured. This wonderful Antique hand water well pump is marked F.E. Myers& Bro Ashland O for Ohio. It's is stamped with No. 2446. The main body measures 26” tall and 20” wide with central cylinder 7" diameter. The original handle is 44" long and the parts move. It has been mounted on a wooden plank as shown in photos. I have not tested this with water so sold as seen. I see no chips or cracks to the cast iron and seem to be in good condition. The paint is cracked. Flaking in places and there is a little surface rust. It has been stored in a dry barn for decades hence the unusual good condition of the paint and body. This is a fantastic piece. Antique Vintage 1842 W & B Douglas Hand Well Water Pump Local P/U Stockton CA
For sale is an impressively large and old hand water pump marked W& B Douglas and Patented 1842. The pump itself measures 29 1/2" tall by 12" deep(back of base to end of spout) and 19" wide(edge of left base to right end of handle) There is a 28 1/2" long pipe attached to the base of the pump. The pump is untested and there is light surface rust on the base. Handle, and handle support. We have not tried to remove the lower pipe. The pump is painted bright green, which we believe is not the original paint. In good antique condition: No breaks, cracks, or repairs. A genuine farm antique. This is very heavy and would be very expensive to ship. So local pickup only in Stockton, California. CONDITION NOTE: All of our items are vintage or antique.
