Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique cast iron. Hayes Pump& Planter Co. Well Pump. This old pump is in good condition and was found at an old farm estate in Central Iowa where the pump had been sitting unused on an old well for many years. As you can see in the pictures, the pump is marked with raised, embossed lettering that reads, MF’D BY HAYES PUMP& PLANTER CO. on both sides of the body ~“GALVA, ILL. U.S.A. on both sides of the spout and“HAYES GALVA, ILL. on the base as well as having embossed part numbers on the various pieces of the pump. The handle raises, lowers and works just as it should and the pump could easily be reconditioned to pump water. It appears to have been repainted silver a long time ago with the paint worn thin or entirely away in some places. The pump is just as I found it with an old repair ... moreon the neck and a place on one side of the base that does not extend as high up as the other side. Both of these points are easily overlooked and did not prevent the pump for being used. As you can see in the pictures. The old water pipe extends below the base roughly six inches- Most of the time this would be cut off. However if you’re looking for a pump to use as décor. Just push that section of pipe in the ground or use it as an anchor if you cement in into place. Either way. It won’t go anywhere and no additional work will be needed. If you want to cut the pipe off. It can easily be done. Overall height from the base to the top of pump. Excluding the water pipe that goes below the base, is roughly 42 inches. Just a nice old. Hard to find pump for the collection or for use. Please refer to the pictures and feel free to email with any questions. Antique McDonald well water pump manufactured in Dubuque. Iowa. This is in extremely good condition! Missing one square nut and that bolt is stripped but can be replaced easily. Pump has been inside our home since it was built in 1900. It was used for cistern water in our basement. I cut the supply pipe off on the bottom and if you want to actually use it. You would need to heat that up with a torch to remove the pipe. All of the other nuts and bolts cam loose without effort. No cracks or chips in this pump. It has spent it's life in our basement. This great find came from an old estate sale in central PA and was painted(folk art look) yellow and black. It measures 20" tall. The bottom base is 9" in diameter and the top is 15" in diameter. On the bottom base it is marked Abendroth Bros. New York. The only small issue I found with this piece was a small break underneath the top where the screw is at(due to use and age) However it would be a very simple welding fix. The top is a little lose but that is only because of the lose nut. The underneath is a little dirty and would just take some steel wool to clean it up, but I didn't want to mess with the base. Very hard to find. 12'9" long all cast iron water trough. Not as many were made this long- and their survival is just as unusual. It is 13" wide across the bottom and flares out to 17" wide across the top- it is 9 1/2" deep. It has a drain in one end. It is in as found condition- great old patina- if it ever warms up soon I will wash off the mud. This is a very heavy piece- I am guessing at least 500 lbs. Antique Myers & Bro Cast Iron Hand Water Pump - Made In Ohio - Green Paint
This wonderful Antique hand water well pump is marked F.E. Myers& Bro Ashland O for Ohio. It's is stamped with No. 2446. The main body measures 26” tall and 20” wide with central cylinder 7" diameter. The original handle is 44" long and the parts move. It has been mounted on a wooden plank as shown in photos. I have not tested this with water so sold as seen. I see no chips or cracks to the cast iron and seem to be in good condition. The paint is cracked. Flaking in places and there is a little surface rust. It has been stored in a dry barn for decades hence the unusual good condition of the paint and body. This is a fantastic piece. Top is not the original its a pier 1 imports coaster of some kind but sits and looks good. Signed ABENDROTH BROS. NY. Spray painted black at one time. The two nut/bolts look froze. 32" Antique Water Well Pump Hand-Crank 1902 Green Refurbished D.E.P.Co Cast Iron
Pump Antique Water Well green Antique Water Well Pump Circa 1902"Improved Little Giant Force Pump" Hand-Crank Gear-Driven Domestic Engine& Pump Co. 32 Inches Tall Professionally Refurbished Handle Made Of Wormy Chestnut(Antiqued) This is one of the earliest known hand-cranked water pumps that features the gear-driven components. Before I reconditioned the pump I also lathed this new replacement handle which is made of Native American Chestnut. It is a piece of wood reclaimed from an old barn. I antiqued it by doing some burning and some high speed grinding. Then added some pings and dings for character. I then added teak oil and finished it off with polyurethane for waterproofing. The photo above shows the six cast iron components after all loose rust and scale had been removed in preparation for paint. I pressed on a 10" ... morefiberglass rod over the rusted"dip-stick" so as to prevent it from slipping out when cranking handle. The embossed words throughout the pump reads"Etter's Improved Little Giant Force Pump" Patented May 20, 1902" Mfg. Domestic Engine and Pump Co. Shippensburg Pa. and"Canada Patent 1902. Some words are hard to make out from age wear. The pump generally measures 32 inches in length and will have a shipping weight of 35 pounds. FREE SHIPPING on this behemoth! The bottom of the pump where it connects to the main ground pipe(or your connecting pipe) is 1-7/8" diameter pipe threaded on the end for connecting to this pump. There are many options for incorporating a handsome base piece that can hide the ground pipe. Notice in the picture above. The black pipe screwed into the bottom of the spigot body. This does not come with the auction. For a couple of dollars, the winning bidder will provide their own mounting pipe. It is 1-7/8" diameter and can be purchased at any hardware store for a couple of bucks. After removing loose rust and scale. I have up for auction one very cool looking old leaping frog water fountain.We bought this and another one just like it about 15 years ago at a antique shop. This auction is for just one. I had them on each side of my home entrance door.SEE LAST PICTURE] I never tried to hook them up to water they looked good just as statues. But I have checked it out to make sure the water hole was clear and that it will work as a water fountain.Looks to me is all you will need is a garden water pump& hose that you can buy at Lowe's.Home Depot or on eBay! Water will run out its mouth to your pond then be circulated from then on. It would look awesome on a stone, brick,or concrete pillar. It is very heavy at 50 lbs and is mostly solid cast iron so it will not blow over.It went through 15 years of outside New York freezing snow blizzards.Rain and never ... moremoved a inch or hurt them in anyway! I repainted them back then and paint is holding up very well too. This will last a lifetime unlike the concrete or pot metal fountains.
