Vintage, casement window stays salvaged from the windows of a former cream production plant(see last photos) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The plant was built during the 1890's, however, these most likely replaced the originals sometime during the middle of the previous century. Each stay is made of solid steel. And was originally brass plated. Much of the plating wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. The amount of plating varies from part to part(see"Group photos" to compare) If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. At the point of salvage. The stays were painted, dirty, and rusty(see"Prior to restoration" photo) Since then, we've spent hours removing the paint, cleaning the dirt and rust from the outside of each stay, and greasing them to facilitate their movement. All stays are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, deep scratches, or gouges. All moveable parts move smoothly. Each one is an original painting on glass window panes. It is signed and has a wire on the back for hanging. I use acrylic paint and after painting it is sealed with an acrylic sealer to make it permanent. Great for an area where you wish you had a window and what better scenery than a picture of a lake sunset with trees in background. This interesting quilt looks like a frosty window pane! It and has medium weight batting so the quilting really stands out! It is about 62" x 77" The border blocks have some wear as seen in pictures, back of quilt is white, all cotton, machine pieced and hand quilted at about 8 stitches per inch, but looks like more since they create an deeper and interesting textured design. There is only ONE noticeable stain on the front, see closer picture with penny, I didn't try to wash since overall is super nice and clean, no odors. This would present a project for those who are historically and architecturally inclined. We had a historian look at this window and he stated that it was probably from the late 17 th century to the 18 th century. While my grandfather was working in the middle east exploring for oil they periodically came across structures that had long since been abandoned. This is a window that was found buried in sand. While the door itself has not been restored. It does look he polished the wood surrounding the window. As the historian highlighted. The border of the window is textured glass and the foliate pattern is done in a mix of textured and glue chip glass which is a technique where they sand blast the glass first. The color is various shades of Mauve with streaks of gold. Mauve is a light shade of burgundy. Not quite pink at all. And not purple. The window appears very aged with some spots more worn than others. Basically, the window appears as if it was once painted in mauve, then someone painted it in gold and what you are left with is a combination of both as time and weather did its thing to it. This method of faux painting is called“antiquing. Nothing is too uniform overall. I have made some spots appear more worn than others. Some areas are lightly crackled. Both sides are done using the same method but not completely identical. Lastly, ... moreafter the painting was done, I applied a thin coat of satin finish polyurethane for durability. It is NOT very shiny. It’s a very low luster sheen. In time, it will become even duller. Either: what are these things for or FINALLY I found them! I was the latter. These aluminum clips are for old barn or possibly basement windows to hold in glass(or plexiglass in my case) in the old metal frame windows. My one barn(used to be a cow milking barn) was made of cement block possibly around the 1940s. I'm not real sure of its age, it could be newer or older. It has these rusty metal frame windows in the what are now stalls. I use plexiglass panes in the winter, but pull them out in the summer and these are the clips which hold the panes in place. I have been searching everywhere from Ebay to old country hardware stores to online since the 1990s and have not been able ... moreto find any or anyone who even recognized or had a clue about them even though I had photos of my old ones and the windows they fit in. I only had a few left and finally. I was able to find someone who had a bunch and I stocked up so I would never have to hunt for these things again in my lifetime! I decided that if someone else has gone thru what I have in looking for them, they will also be very happy to have found them! Unfortunately they weren't cheap for such a tiny little part, but it is sure a lot cheaper than replacing the whole window(especially in a cement block building) One of my rusty old windows is shown in several photos to let you know what kind of window these will fit. My windows are rectangular with two panes and each pane needs four clips. Total eight per my window(although I only took photos with six hooked on and of course no pane) They are aluminum so bend easily which is why over the years I used so many when horses popped out the plexiglass with their noses and the clips either fell onto floor and got stepped on and flattened or were lost. This listing is for* One* Vintage 8 pane window from 1964 Multi purpose white& off white frame Current trend for a seating plan At the time of this listing we have 3 of these available Total Measurement 36" x 26" Each pane measures 7 1/2" x 10 3/4" This lisiting is for one large and heavy old vintage 8 pane plain clear glass window. I have more windows in other sizes which you can find in my ebay store under windows. These windows are old from 1964 and in great condition especially considering they are over 40 years old. This window does have several layers of paint. One side is in almost perfect condition painted with an off white cream color with no loose glaze or peeling paint. The other outside of the window is white with some loose glaze and peeling as to be expected. But it is in great to excellent condition ... morewith the wood frame stil strong as it originally was when first installed and also just as sturdy. Please note that although the window does look like it has a pink tone in the picture, it absolutely does NOT. Again, one side is white and one side is an off white cream color. We have also posted a picture of both sides of the window.
