Penn Antique Restoration. 12" Antique"Yale" Solid Cast Brass Window Stay. Rare. Antique, casement window stay made by, Yale& Towne, of Stamford, CT sometime during the first half of the previous century. It is made entirely of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not plated steel. Originally, it was copper-plated, however, most of the plating wore off over the years and only traces of copper could be seen here and there. If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. The condition is good but all will need a finale clean up to remove the old paint that is still remaining.
