ORIGINAL Antique 1905 Taber Prang Chromolithograph Motto Arts & Crafts Oak Frame
This listing is for a nice old. Original Taber-Prang chromolithograph whose motto is the Scottish Selkirk Grace. This is NOT one of the reproductions that have cropped up recently on eBay, and it remains in its original 19 1/2 x 12 1/2 mission oak frame. As you'll see in the photos. It was framed with glass many years ago- helping to keep the color bright and the condition clean. As a result, its flaws are minor and it needs no apologies except one for my photography! Whether indoors or outdoors, I just couldn't get rid of the reflections on the glass. So please know that the print has no color loss and any white areas are from sunlight or camera flash. The black border of the print does have three or four small white spots(visible in the photos) where the little framing tacks have worn through the paper. And the lower right edge ... moreof the frame has a sliver/triangle broken out(see 3rd from last photo) This looks huge in the blow-up but is really not noticeable when you're facing the frame, and you're unlikely to see it unless you look for it. If you enlarge the shots of the lower right front. You'll see the 1905 Taber-Prang Art Company, Springfield, Mass copyright information. The text of the print is: Some hae meat that canna eat. An some wad eat that want it, But we ha'e meat, an' we can eat, So let the Lord be thankit. Known as the Selkirk Grace and often mistakenly attributed to Robert Burns. The prayer actually dates to the 17th century at which time is was known as the Galloway or Covenanters' Grace. Anyway. The outer dimensions of this antique frame are approx. 21 3/4" x 25 3/4" The inside dimensions. What size print will fit, are approx. 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" of course, you could also use a mat) The ornate borders are wood, most of the ones you find have a plaster or gesso that is molded to shape. Nice vintage picture frame. They look to be solid oak and appears to have its original finish. The pictures look little better, but they are more duller in person they have been in storage at my grandparents estate wrapped up nice and neat in the attic, need a very good cleaning, and something to bring back the shine unless you like the duller rustic look. They are all three the same size 12 1/4" x10 1/4" and hold a picture of 8x10. Great frames, good condition, but there are some scratches which is expected of vintage items, see photos Refinishing or treating with stain would probably bring them back to life, but they are really great and rustic looking as they are, no glass or backs included. they are well made and very sturdy frames. It has classic, spoon carved, leafy stem and flower design. Raised round medallions at each top corners. Double horizontal grooves along bottom and flanking flower. The drawers and the frame and the one hook on the right side of the assembly came off the left side of the treadle if you are looking from the front. They worked smoothly and appear to be in good shape. Minor chipping from normal use. The one drawer shows some staining on the inside and also some cracking on the interior ply of the other drawer. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN OAK / CHESTNUT FRAME w/ BEVEL GLASS MIRROR - GOOD CONDITION
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN OAK/ CHESTNUT FRAME WITH BEVELED MIRROR IN GOOD CONDITION. Frame is circa 1880’s. Outer measurements of the frame are approximately 24 ½ inches by 28 ½ inches. With an opening for the mirror of 16 inches by 20 inches. Frame contains a bevel beveled glass mirror. With about 1 inch of the bevel visible on all 4 sides. The mirror glass is in good condition– maybe not the original one in this frame– probably replaced many years ago. The oak/ chestnut was refinished many years ago– if you see photo of back you can see the dark original color. The finish is good– a nice dark honey color. Which shows off the graining of the wood. There are a few small chips in the oak– see my pictures. There is a narrow line– crack in one of the inside sections of the frame– about 3 inches long. And you probably won’t even find it. There ... moreis a narrow row of gesso carving on all 4 sides. The original gold tone liner is around the opening for the mirror. But there are some chips in it that were covered over when the gold was retouched. Looks good on the wall, but up close you can see the touch-ups on the gold. See my pictures. Frame with contents weighs just about 12 pounds before any packing materials. Old cardboard backing for the mirror. Frame is good and solid– corners are tight. No wiggle. ALL SALES FINAL. I'm sorry about the wacky/literally over the top angle in my photos of this one- this was the only way I could avoid most of the glare. And I don't think my photos do this arts and crafts beauty justice. It's an oak frame from the early 1900s, with a sweet period print of a mother, holding her child with one hand, and holding the listening end of a candlestick telephone in he other hand, up to the child's ear. The frame measures 11 1/8" wide by 9 1/8" tall on the outside, with an inside opening of 7 1/2" by 5 1/2" ... moreThe finish on the frame is black, it's old(not original, I don't think, though) and quite worn, with spots of wear where you can see the grains of the wood, dark spots of finish(like what looks to be a thick drip of the black finish on one side by the corner, that I'm showing in photo 22) light spots, like I'm showing in photo 8, and minor small nicks(like in photo 10) scratches and scrapes- all giving it the rustic primitive title above. That being said, the frame is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, structurally- you can see a little bit of separation to the wood at the corner joints- but they are totally sturdy without wiggle or jiggle. On the back, you can see an old paper board held in by nails as well as an old wire- all may be original- including the print- I did not open the frame to inspect, but it looks like it could be. The print is in excellent condition- I see no rips, tears or issues. The glass of the frame is dirty and needs a good cleaning- you could polish the wood if you wanted to, too- but I'd leave it primitive as it is. This is a lovely old piece. Antique oak Hand Carved TRAMP ART folding wood frame
TRAMP ART FOLDING FRAME This is a beautiful wood frame with side panels that fold in. The carving has a flower at the top of each panel with scroll work and leaves on the sides and a banner at the bottom. The back of each opening of the frame has carved wooden pieces that turn and open to insert pictures. One side of the frames does not have glass. The other side has a broken piece of glass and the center glass is in tact without any breaks. The workmanship is incredible, surely a prized piece for a collector. Stands 17" tall base is 15" x 5 1/2" width of frame with doors open is 25" side frame 8 x 11 1/4" window opening is 6 1/2 x 4 1/2" center fram is 17" tall x 11" window opening is 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" The wood appears to be oak.
