LOT 8 ANTIQUE HARDWARE DOORKNOBS-PLATES AND LOCKS-EARLE-BRASS&GLASS
This listing is for 8 sets of antique door knobs with 16 back plates; and 8 lock assemblys. The doorknobs are all matching in design. However 5 have brass on both ends; 2 have brass on one end and chrome on the other and one has chrome on both ends. The back plates match the ends; there are 12 brass back plates; 3 chrome back plates and one round chrome back plate. I have posted a photo of the chrome set by itself as it also has a different lock set. The locks are marked EARLE. The approximate measurements are as follow: doorknob 6 inches long; glass knob 1 3/4 inches across; plates 6 1/8 inches long; 1 5/8 inches at widest point; lock 5 1/4 inches long; 7/8 inches wide and the round chrome plate is 2 inches across with lock for this being 1 3/4 inches long; 7/8 inches wide and finally the lock set is 3 5/8 inches wide and 3 1/8 inches deep ... morewith the brass part on the lock being 5 1/4 inches ling and 7/8 inches wide. These sets are in working order and in good condition for there age. They could use some cleaning; there is some paint on the edges and the chrome ones seem to have some slight rust on them. I have three keys which fit the locks and the locks work smoothly. The all chrome unit has it's own turn key and works smoothly( I think this unit was for a bathroom door) The glass knobs are in good condition with no breaks or chips. Antique Glass Door Knobs with Brass Plates - 7 Knobs
Antique Glass Door Knobs Lot of 7 glass knobs. Included: 7 knobs. 6 plates. Note 6 of these have same brass fitting with detail, the 7th knob has a different brass more basic brass fitting- please see image pointing this out. Condition: Spindles are attached(jammed) on two of these. However, I did not put great effort into detaching them(figured prying them off may damage glass) Metal parts are pure brass. Door plates are also pure brass. No chips in glass. These are obviously old. I'm guess 1940's, so the naturally come with wear and tear, a little paint. Please note screws that hold knobs onto spindles are not included except for the one different knob attached to spindle- in this case. The hex screw spins and will not surface. More to come. Antique Corbin Brass/copper door lock set/plates/knobs/lock/no key July 17,1900
This is a old door lock set that we removed from our antique door. It looks like brass or copper not sure which one or both. It surely needs to be restored as needs some cleaning. The date on the back of the plates say July 17.1900. The plates are two different sizes one is 7" and the other 10" It says Corbin on the lock. It looks like a matched set because of the dates on each of the plates and the color. It looks like black with the copper and brass. On the lock at the top it has a S34. That's about all I know. This auction is for a pair of rectangular antique door plates. These doorplates are plated steel- a magnet does stick to them. The coating is a brass color. With some darkening toward"antique" brass. These w ould have been used with an old. Large mortise-type lockset and skeleton key- neither is included. The plates measure 8" high x 2 1/2" wide. T he spacing from the center of the knob hole to the center of the round portion of the skeleton key hole is 2 1/4" I believe these door knob back plates were manufactured and sold in the 1920's and/ or 1930's. Possibly even the teens. But I wasn't around back then, so I can't say for sure. These plates are in very nice condition. I think they are"new old stock" they came from an auction of items from an old. Closed hardware store. I believe them ... moreto be unused- t here is no paint or varnish on them, no scratches or marks in or around the screw holes from screws having been put in or removed. And no wear marks inside the holes(ferrules) for the door knobs to show they have been in use. There are some small scratches. Etc from many, many years in storage and imperfect handling through the decades. I have only just washed them with soap and water. Penn Antique Restoration. ~ 6 available ~ Antique Chrome/Brass Interior Door Sets w/ Oval Beaded Knobs& Plates. Although there are 6 sets available. The list price is for 1 set only. If the quantity above falls below 6, then this indicates that 1 or more sets sold. Elegant. Antique, interior door locksets salvaged from Central Iowa. Each set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 stamped brass escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock with a brass faceplate and 1 working key, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. The sets were made some time between 1900& 1920. All brass parts are solid brass. At some point(most likely during the middle of the previous century) All brass parts were chrome-plated. Surprisingly, most of the plating remained! The amount of plating varies from part to part(see"Group ... morephotos" to compare) The knobs have a circular form and the escutcheons have an oval form. Both knobs and escutcheons have beaded trim. In our opinion. The sets are pretty clean. The chrome may be a bit dull, but after some polishing, they'll shine like they did years ago! There are traces of paint here and there, but that too is easily removed(your fingernail will suffice) We're not sure if you prefer a cleaner look, or a dirtier, distressed look. We opted not to clean them to be able to sell the sets for less, but if you prefer your hardware bright and shiny, we could clean the sets for $25/set prior to shipping- email us after the auction if you're interested. There is one subtle dent around each keyhole. They are not easily spotted unless you are looking for flaws. One of the knobs has a small dent on it's side. But it too is not easy to spot, and it will be even tougher to see once installed. Otherwise, there are just the typical small nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on 100 year old hardware, but no breaks, cracks, chips, or gouges. We opened. ANTIQUE GLASS DOOR KNOB ASSEMBLY W/ BRASS KEY PLATES, SARGENT LOCK AND ONE KEY
We found this item on a very old door stored in the barn. This estate has yielded many locks and hardware pieces. This is the first one we have found all intact, it was on an old warped solid wooden door that belonged to one of the houses that was at one time on this estate. Here I have a Sargent lock mechanism with two solid glass door knobs. The glass door knobs are free of chips or cracks or any damage. The door this was on has been in the barn for at least 70 years, the house it came from was built around the turn of the century. There are bubbles trapped in the glass door knobs. I had found a can of antique BRASSO brass cleaner. Which I used on all the metal pieces of this assembly, and the brass came out really nice. Being an amateur clock restorer. I took the Sargent lock apart and put oil inside, the ONE key we found with this now ... moreworks great at moving the" deadbolt" back and forth. PRICE REDUCED AGAIN& AGAIN UNTIL SOLD! CORBIN antique door knobs. Over 100 years young! This set of door knobs with back-plates was taken from an old oak door c.1900. Door was probably 1.75" thick. Both brass door knob are not meant for keys. There is a manual lock on each side to provide locking from one side or the other. both work fine. The brass plates measure 3.75" x 4.24" Marked inside. Patented Jan 31 1899 thru Mar 21 1905" using several dates between those dates as well. This item is very heavy. Mechanism is enclosed in its own brass box.see the pics for more detail. Pair Antique Colonial Solid Brass Pocket Sliding Door Finger Pulls Plates Handle
Penn Antique Restoration. Pair Antique Colonial Brass Pocket Door Pulls. Antique. Colonial style, pocket door pulls made around the turn of the previous century. They are made of solid, stamped/pressed brass, not plated iron/steel. At the point of salvage. The pulls were found dirty, lacquered, and heavily tarnished. Since then, we've cleaned them leaving some of the tarnish behind to preserve their aged look. The pull on the left side in the first photo has some deep scratches on the right side. Just outside of the recessed(cup) area. There is also a tiny dent that you could spot along the right edge, about 1" below the scratched area. The keyhole area of the same pull also has a few small dings around it-the previous owner obviously didn't have good aim with a key, or didn't see too well. However, these are not terribly ... moreobvious flaws, and you'll be more impressed by the cool, overall look of the pull than to notice such subtle imperfections. Plus, character marks are part in parcel of buying antique items! Otherwise, both pulls are in good shape with no breaks, cracks, chips, or big dents. Antique Russwin Brass Door Knobs& Back Plates& Sliding Bolt latch and Lock c. 1920's 1930's. Acquired from an old estate in San Diego. The bolts slide and the latch turns with the twist of the door knobs and latch turn. The key lock is missing and can be found and inserted. The inside diameter of the lock cylinder hole is 1 1/8 inch on the front and back side of the iron lock mechanism. The hole is threaded on the front and the back side hole. Too.
